Pony washers
« on: June 27, 2017, 03:06:08 PM »
So I cleaned a few ponies...and I am used to seeing most washers....but

My flat foot blue belle had TWO, SuPer thick washers. Has anyone ever seen this? I had to take her head off...so I am baffled

Oh yeah the FF's have those double washers.  Presumably it keeps them from toppling over forwards, but they still do!

I ended up taking all the washers out of my FF ponies and just using marbles for the weight.

I love that idea! I wonder if it will work for other 'lopsided' ponies? Like those in the Tootsie pose? I am definitely going to try this. Who knew marbles would be so useful? Thanks for the tip SkyCakes

I dont know who mentioned it on the boards but I remembered the marbles. I even put some in my daughter's seaponies to help them float athough Seamist kinda floats sideways or sinks :/ Just remember not to put too many in :/

Yep, those were supposedly to fix the tipping problem... sadly it's not really effective.  Guess it was too late to go back and retool the moulds for that year, this was the best they could come up with on short notice (?)

I am new here, so must have been before my time  ;). However I have seen a tutorial for seaponies where they replaced the rusty weight with a large marble. I just never took the next step to also use them for 'anchoring' wobbly ponies. This was a lightbulb moment

* off to buy marbles * - boring looking ones that my boys will not want for their collection

I've used fishing weights in the back legs to keep my flat foots from falling on their faces. They're cheap and as I'm not going to wash them so I know they won't rust!
