I'm totally with Tafetta on the names of these ponies  Denmark also used the UK names so in my world Hula Hula is the one with the palm trees and this one is Sail Away - though I originally knew her as Brausewind because I bought mine on a holiday in Switzerland and she was in German packing. I didn't know her 'proper' English name until we got the Internet some years later.
I absolutely love her, she's a favorite of mine! I love her bold colors and her pose!

Yeah their names are weird.

Pina Colada should have been called Hula Hula
Hula Hula should have been called Sea Breeze
Tootie Tails should have been called Pina Colada
And Sea Breeze should have been called something else

I nicknamed my Hula Hula Kalea. It's a Hawaiian name that means Bright.

I would love to have her. :D And Sail Away sounds so much better... Not even because of her symbol, but the name "Hula Hula" hurts my ears. XD

Thinking about it, it would make more sense if in the US "Pina Colada" was used for Summer Heatwave/Tootie Tails instead. I do think sometimes Hasbro named and then got mixed up when they went for release. Sort of like the Glittering SHS have weird symbol/name mismatches, and there are a couple of times when ponies are advertised under different names before they actually hit the stores...

I like Brausewind. That has a nice sound to it. And it does relate to the boat as well, because you need wind to fill the sails.

I'm still loyal to the UK names, though. Sail Away the unicorn, with her boat. Hula Hula the palm tree beach dancer. Summer Heatwave, the yellow Earth Pony with her magical cave of secret tropical fruit hidden in the Tropical Isle, and the pegasus Surfing Days, who liked to surf out in the sea with the fish.

In the US Hasbro recycled either the fairy tail names or the pony names on this set to save on coming up with something new, which is why they don't really match up that well.

But Pina Colada would have made more sense as the yellow earth pony, and I imagine Hula Hula was meant originally to be the same pony as the UK had under that name, as the symbol makes more sense that way. Hasbro did change their mind in the US with the Sundae Best pony name Cherry Berry, so it's not impossible that pony's name got mixed up when it came to release.

I think the UK names suit the Tropical ponies better than the US names. I gave away my childhood Pina Colada and am still looking for a replacement. I wish I had all of the Tropical ponies.

To me she's one of those ponies that changes a lot depending on lighting. I find that in whiter/brighter light she's quite pretty while more typical indoor lighting makes her body color look pretty blegh.

Very true. You can't see how eye punching her colors are if she isn't in strong light.

I have her. I call mine Sail Away.

I actually use a mix of English names, US names and names of my own devising, so Sail Away's set mates are known as Pina Colada and Pineapple here. I don't much like the name Hula Hula.

G1 pony names are confusing. You see how much better and easier it is now all ponies are called variations of Sparkle, Dazzle or Apple :D

In that case, I'm looking forward to the release of Dazzlespark Apple. Unless they get super creative and just make it "Spardazple" xD.

...Quite a lot of G1 also had Sparkle, Dazzle and Apple, though, now I come to think of it...

By the way, I think she's a "better" version of Beach Ball. Since we're talking about Merriweather/Shoreline and Night Glider/Mainsail on here lately... :P
