How do you remove mildew smell off of ponies?
« on: May 26, 2017, 10:43:38 AM »
I've got ponies that smell of mildew inside. I was wondering what's the best way to get rid of the smell. Please help.

A mother pony can be protective of her young just like dogs.

I seal my stinky ones up in plastic bags with nice smelling dryer sheets.
Also sticking them in with oxyclean can help too :)

Oxyclean is good but DON'T use it on so softs it will de flock them. I would also try using some antibacterial soap, and would avoid anything bleach wise unless it is super diluted.  I would open them up, give them a good scrub, and let them air dry.

Lots of fresh air!  In a non-sunny area...

I second the fresh air! You can also keep a plastic cup of baking soda nearby to soak up the stink and any dampness.

I second the fresh air!

but I also recommend limited direct sun light.  direct sunlight is a great disinfectant.   just don't leave it more than an hour unless you want to fade.

Does one scrub the stinky ponies with oxyclean and water or just let them sit on top of a pile of it? I have a box of some cigarette-y smelling ones that have been sitting with odor absorbing cat litter for the past several months but they still stink.
