You need not to worry. It's not for anything nefarious. I have one goal: to track the population on this site. By collecting this data, we could figure out who is your average pony collector, what gens are most popular and in future years, look at the potential trends of traffic on this site and how well the herd is faring. I understand your concern. But I'm confident that the folks who are in charge of keeping this website safe would let something bad happen. And all this data is sent to me anonymously through the poll, so even I don't know who everyone is. The comments are just telling me because...I guess they can?
