Flutter Magic (aka CMM Fluttershy, better known to her friends as Fluttsi) has just returned from a three month sojourn accompanying her navigationally challenged human in Japan. She has had lots of adventures, and has had her photo taken in many, many different places. I was asked to share pictures of my trip with the Arena, and I think it would be most fun, and also on topic, if Fluttsi shared HER adventures with you all.

The story of Flutter Magic:

Two weeks before I left for Japan, my sister and I were both home visiting my parents' house. I came upstairs one day to find a pony, a book, and a note outside my door:

My sister bought Fluttsi for me as a mascot for my travels, and for good luck. She chose Fluttsi because she resembles Rainbow Magic from the Rainbow Curl set, a pony I chose as a child because she could grant wishes at a time our family had a great need for a particular wish to be granted.

Rainbow Magic (not my original childhood pony)

Over the course of my trip, Fluttsi and I have sent regular image reports home to my sister, letting her know what Fluttsi has been up to over the course of the past few months. Now I will share some of those images with you all too :D I will update this post as I get more pictures organised over the next few weeks. I am going to format them by location rather than by date, as it makes the most sense in terms of image organisation.

Fluttsi may be tiny, but she has proven a brave adventurer, encountering many very dangerous situations in her travels. She has now made it safely back to the UK.

Update: New pictures, (added 1st May)

Fluttsi and I also did a brief trip further south, to Hiroshima and Shimonoseki. Fluttsi really enjoyed riding the shinkansen :

First of all, I love the letter your sister wrote. The photos are wonderful and this is such an interesting and creative way of you and Flutsi sharing your journey to Japan.

Thank you guys! Fluttsi is very smug at all this attention :) She wants to be a pony celebrity...

Yeah, it was sweet of my sister, and especially the reasons behind the choice of pony. I totally didn't expect it. I brought Tropi Breeze with me too, but she has problems standing and ultimately I didn't want to damage/lose her, so she spent most of the trip in my apartment/hotel rooms.

I haven't even touched on the Kyoto images. I may need to do an entirely separate thread for those depending on what the mods think about it. I was in Kyoto for 10 weeks, so there are a lot of Fluttsi adventures :)
I'm going to put the non-Kyoto ones in this thread and see how we get on. Mods, if you're reading, please let me know your thoughts as I don't want to image-explode the forum but I also don't want to spam it to death.

Okay, so I've seen a few of these kinds of travelogues before, but none of them have ever been this sweet.

How lovely is your sister to have thought of this for you! And it looks like you and Fluttsi both had a great trip! :)

(Also, how STEEP are those stairs in Himeji-jo?! omg, I almost passed out before we reached the top, and there were little grannies with canes ahead of me on the climb that I thought were going to actually die!)

Haha the stairs in Himeji - not to mention IN SOCKS because no shoes allowed! I am pretty sure that is absolutely the least safe way to climb shiny wooden steps, even if they weren't so steep.
But actually the Himeji ones were not so bad compared to the ones at Hikone castle, which were seriously MUCH WORSE. I swear they were practically ladders. Fluttsi was lucky - she got to travel up them in my bag :)

I still have to sort out all my Kyoto images, of which there are many, as I spent most of my time there.

Thanks all for your comments :D We had fun - even if we did get occasional funny looks from people.

They build steep stairs and demand that people climb them in their socks?
