MLP Tales of Equestria RPG

(1/1)

Roogna:
So, I'm on the email newsletter for River Horse (company in the UK who last year made the official Labyrinth board game), and they've just announced that their new RPG is available!

You can get it from their US affiliated store http://sodapopminiatures.com/my-little-pony
or Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Pony-Equestria-Playing/dp/0993218490/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493149529&sr=8-1&keywords=my+little+pony+tales+of+equestria
you can also get a die set to go with it called Tokens of Friendship ;) https://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Pony-Equestria-Friendship/dp/B06XRQM6T8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493149582&sr=8-1&keywords=my+little+pony+tokens+of+friendship

and the expansion pack will be out later this year https://www.amazon.com/Little-Pony-Equestria-Statuettes-Adventure/dp/1626926220/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493149548&sr=8-1&keywords=my+little+pony+curse+of+the+statuettes

I personally don't do many RPGs, but I think this is fabulous!

MoonstoneFluff:
My roommate works for a certain large gaming reseller and picked the book up for me last week.

It's really well written and would be a great first game for younger players.  I have four players lined up with characters in mind so I am very much looking forward to playing!

LadyMoondancer:
I watched a video review of it and it looked really well put together, excellent for introducing young players to 'paper' RPGs, but without being dumbed down.

I was particularly impressed with some of the mechanics they put in to encourage cooperation within the party.  Like, players get "friendship token" that they can as bonuses to their rolls.  But your friendship tokens are worth twice as much if you're helping ANOTHER player on their roll.

Also, every time your pony CAN'T perform an action because of a character quirk (like, unable to swim across a river because they're deathly afraid of water), everyone in the party gets a friendship token.  Which encourages players to make characters with actual flaws.

Edit:

Here's the review, it's very thorough!

Thanks for sharing this.

I just picked this up at a local Barnes & Noble.  They also have it online.
