What do you watch on tv?

Next Friday my family is getting new internet. We've needed an upgrade for quite some time. Along with that, we also decided to get a TV package and we get to pick 40 specialty channels in addition to all the standard stuff it comes with. I've never had TV in my room before, so I'm quite excited.

This got me thinking, since I've been put in charge of putting together our channel selections... I haven't watched TV in a long time. I've taken my family's preferences into account and added their favorites to the list. But I thought it might be fun to ask everyone here.

So, what do you watch on tv? Are you into specific shows or channels? Do you follow the news? Are you a reality TV fan? A documentary junkie? A cartoon fanatic?

Personally, I'm most excited about getting Animal Planet, Food Network and Stingray Retro. I love documentaries / shows about animals, nature and food. I also love retro music videos. I'm interested in getting a couple more cartoon / family based channels, but I'm still researching which would be my best option (I can get: cartoon network, nickelodeon, teletoon, ytv, and disney channel).

Anyway, I look forward to hearing what others watch. It may inspire what I add, or it may just be interesting. Either way, this should be fun.

Last time I changed my channel line up, I was super excited to get Space Channel back but then I found I didn't watch it as much as I used to.  I do love TLC for many of their shows.  Enjoy your new TV!

We downgraded our cable package a year or two ago so I get very few of my favorite channels. If I could cherry pick, they'd be:

HGTV and DIY Network
Animal Planet
Investigation Discovery
History Channel
TLC
Natgeo
AMC
Disney and Disney Junior
HBO
Showtime
CNN
BBC
Sundance Classics
ABC Family or whatever it's called nowadays

I won't be any help because I mostly watch youtube on my TV through my nintendo. plus our dad would never allow cable or anything of the sort because we have netflix and according to him, netflix has absolutely everything.  But it sounds really exciting and I'm seeing all these channels listed that I dream of having access to someday.

My taste is pretty eclectic:

Bates Motel, Family Guy, Face Off, Project Runway, The Big Bang Theory, Scream, Big Brother

I mostly watch Netflix but there are some realityshows they don't have: Ink Master, Face off, Real housewives of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump rules, Vem bor här? (Who lives here?) and Embarrasing bodies. I am also fond of Midsummer Murders. However, since I am in a different country I can't tell which channels to get as ours are totally different.

Exciting! I didn't have TV reception at my last place, so when I moved last year, it was quite nice to get it back. I still don't watch a lot of TV, but I do enjoy "Big Bang Theory", sometimes "The Simpsons" and crime fiction like "Cold Case" or "Law & Order".

I don't even have cable. I wish I could at least have the local channels, but apparently they don't work like I did when I was a kid where you could get them without cable. =/

I stream my shows - which are mainly cartoons and anime. Lol. Doctor Who sometimes, too, when I have a streaming service that offers it (which is rare). Doctor Who is a little scary for me, anyway. I'm mostly into cartoons and anime. Usually comedy as opposed to horror. I do not like horror.

I just got cable again (free with rent!) after moving... So lately I've been watching:

The Amazing World of Gumball

etc, etc... I have trouble getting into things that aren't cartoons or really funny, so I ignore a lot of my channels and turn the tv off often. It's fun to be a couch potato sometimes though.

I hardly ever watch anything on TV except a few game shows like Let's Make a Deal, Family Feud, and The Price is Right. I also like the Steve Wilkos Show and Chopped.

What I like watching changes according to my mood. I like documentaries, especially history related ones, but also I like drama series. I also like Midsomer Murders although I prefer the original Barnaby. I like Lewis but not so much Morse. I actually prefer being able to watch things when I want to watch them, though. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime because as a student it's cheaper. In my uni room therefore I have those and basic freeview. At home we also have the sports channels and movie channels. I like Sky Sports although I don't really know why I watch the football when my team always does so badly...

Oh, I also have a crunchyroll subscription (Although I haven't been able to use that while in Japan, the irony...)

I *wish* that back home we had proper NHK as I love the Taiga Dramas. Also since being in Japan I have picked up a bad habit of watching learning English programmes...

When I was younger, I watched tv religiously. Now that I'm older and work so much at my job, I hardly ever watch it. I'll watch tv for the news when I'm getting up in the morning and in the evening. Otherwise, I do enjoy PBS if I find something interesting on it. Movie channels are a must. Netflix and Hulu are my other go to's.

Every now and then I'll watch a korean drama on netflix. But yeah.. I rarely turn on the tv. I just don't seem to have time for it.

In the fall we sometimes turn on a football game (although none of us are really into it. No one likes a heartbreak). It's a pain to get local channels to come in...
