Spotted first hummingbird of the season!  I'm near Atlanta, Georgia, and our feeders have been out for about a week, and just saw my first returning hummer a few minutes ago!

Wow! I love hummingbirds, so magical. I was delighted last summer to see a real one in my garden. We get a few hummingbird moths each summer, though. They're pretty too. I think hummingbirds must be good luck. :)

We had our first experience with a hummingbird moth last summer... startled us when after dark it looked like a hummingbird had flown towards our porch light. They really have the mimicked flight pattern down!

We get some in the summer in our yard... we can't use many feeders because they attract wasps.  :( I have fond memories of watching hummingbirds with my grandma when I was little though.

Its still too early here...I expect we will be putting out the feeder in another month ish.

We saw a few last year but the feeder was apparently too close to the bird feeder and that supposedly drives the hummingbirds off.

I love humming birds too!

They stay all year round here.  Every year a pair nests in the pear tree- they get SOOO TERRITORIAL-  the young birds are such clumsy fliers, I worry for them every time.  And have you ever seen their nests? LUDICROUS! About the size of half a walnut...

Ooooh love hummingbirds. Except when they divebomb your head, that's annoying.

They aren't in New Zealand, but I was fascinated by the ones I saw in Arizona!
