how discolored can a pony get???

hi guys! i was browsing ebay and i saw this listing for a lot on ebay with lemondrops and a couple others.

i was shocked to see lemondrops so brown, at first i thought she might've been a nirvana or something, ive never seen a pony that discolored 0_0
but i asked the seller for hoof pics, and she's HK, she's just extremely brown.

what could cause that level of discoloration?? i kind of still want to buy the lot so i can give her some love :'V

I'm not sure. My guess is the defeatism of the plastic and what environment the poor little thing was in. Sunlight? Dust? Chemicals? But I'm not sure. This is all based on my sadly limited knowledge of plastic.

It's really hard to be sure of anything with such fuzzy pics.  She could be just really really dirty, but those round spots on her feet look like "cancer" or "age spots" possibly.

I too love ponies in such poor condition, they are worth a good scrub up and that hair looks pretty nice, to me....by my standards.  If the lot is running really cheap, you also get Glory and BBE Lofty, Yay!

If you have very few ponies right now this can look like something you want; I know I got my first lots like this and some were a pleasant surprise after a good scrub and some were even worse than in the pics. 

Someone more knowledgeable than me will come along and venture a more informed opinion of what sorts of things can go wrong with this pony in particular.

I've seen some crazy discolored ponies! Ones that come to mind that can get crazy are:
Taf scoops
Sparkle napper
Sparkle star hopper
Cherry treats
Boysenberry pie
Sundance
Blossom
Cotton candy
Dainty dahlia
Daisy sweet
Flutter cloud puff

Discoloration can happen for a multitude of things, sun exposer, dirt, water, regrind, plastic deteriation, fragrance exposure, and so much more! I once saw a clear sparkle baby firefly that had been left on a roof for a year!

Could be general dirt and grime.
Could also be nicotine stain

I've totally seen her that colour. It's age, grime, and sunlight.

As one of the oldest ponies, she could have been through 30+ years of who knows what. Dirt, grime, sunlight, smoke, who knows - but she's not the worst one I've seen by a long shot!

I have a so-soft Truly that I'm deflocking (due to really bad flocking) and she's off white (almost cream) underneath, not white.  I think the glue from the flocking yellowed and it has yellowed her plastic as well.  Sometimes discoloration just happens.

I used to have a Gingerbread who was sooo discolored (also riddled with cancer and with perpetually greasy hair).  Completely tan.  It was sad.

I have a tanned Gingerbread with great hair and I love her as much as my perfect Gingerbread....maybe more cuz I can stuff her in my pocket without concern for making her worse, except her hair which does require some attention after being pocketed, and of course I totally hate that, not.

I also like ponies with signs of play including awful felt pen makeup and chew marks.  They're imbued with love.

i kind of like this "tanned" gingerbread idea.........shes just cooked instead of raw, thats all!

My second ever g1 pony, Parasol, was like covered in dirt when I found her at the thrift store, this pony could be te same deal, when I scrubbed her she went from looking like a brownish colour to bright pink again!

I love it when that happens.  It's true, you never know when they are going to just need a good scrub and come out gorgeous and fresh.

Whoooa that's actually quite cool!! 

I've had a few ponies that appeared super discoloured, but it turned out to be grime on the inside so thick it made the plastic look darker
