It's doable for GI Joe's (Joe flocking looks to have a similar texture to So Softs) so I think it could be done. It's just difficult and requires a lot of research. There are people who actually have services to reflock Joes so I wonder if any of them might be willing to expand to ponies if they knew the demand was there.
You can reflock with an elecrostatic gun- but again, the length of the flocking is different so I think it would not look like our vintage ponies.Stuff just changes over the years. It's also impossible to find certain widths of yarn now (which I need for a custom project)The GI Joes flocked with guns look better than they did- but kind of "pokey" if you know what I mean- like this guy flocked by clubhairforgijoe.com visitors can't see pics , please register or loginBut if you liked this look- you could probably contact these guys and ask if they'd flock an entire pony ?

Still looks about as close as can be gotten with current materials and a lot better than the short flock that feels like velvet. Especially when your only other choices are dingy flocking or smooth deflocks.
