Getting home from work, making a cup of tea, finally being able to take the support bandage off my leg and scratch that itch that's been buzzing around the back of my knee all day! Ah, bliss. Turns out the simplest pleasures in life are the most satisfying ones... or maybe I'm just a bit too easily pleased.

A few things made me smile -
firstly, I started watching what I ate in the new year, this morning one of my mini weight-loss goals was achieved - yay!

Took my kid to dance school and left her to it whilst I went shopping, chatted to a couple of old ladies who seemed to enjoy the interaction.  :)

Found some mini cake-tins for sale and bought 4, enough to make 4 little cakes from a 2-egg mix + have enough cake mix left over for my kid to lick the bowl!

I'm finally starting to set up the 20 gallon aquarium that's been empty since June. The water's been cycling for a while but I'm finally getting around to actually putting in gravel and plants. I'm really looking forward to seeing my tank be full of life again!

Spending last week back down in London (and returning to the midlands reminds me so much of why I want to be back in London a lot more!)

Not that I have anything against the midlands, but there's literally no transport here to anything or anywhere useful, and I can't drive so that's a problem.

And Shrewsbury in the FA Cup - having worked in that town I know how much they love their club there, and I was happy to see them get their replay against the odds.

I'm not normally a fan of wise axioms but there was something I encountered in a book I'd been reading that really resonated with me; with the language cleaned up and the repetitive delivery condensed, it amounted to "How many once-in-a-lifetime events have you missed because they weren't amazing moments, they were just ordinary moments? Every moment is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Don't miss your life." It's something that feels as if it should be obvious, but it's easy to forget it in the shuffle of everyday life and I was glad of the reminder.
On a less spiritual note, I also tried a ruby beer and it was really nice.

The supermarket was open and everything was fairly normal inside. However I had to go through a  temperature check station before they would let me into the building.

Oh, my goodness! The talk about the virus is making me itch! We haven't had a case here yet. Stay safe!

I hope to leave before they decide to shut down all the airports. I would of bolted already but I sent the application in the renew my residency two weeks ago along with my passport. With the holiday, that office has been closed all week. >.<

I had a nice trip out into town today while the sun was out, had a chat with a lovely woman in Holland & Barrett and finally managed to get some sage and lemon myrtle tea! I also found a bundle of fabulous books in the charity shop; I got a collection of Oscar Wilde's short stories with some really beautiful woodcut illustrations, the Oxford Illustrated History of English Literature and a collection of Shakespeare's romances. When I got home, my dad phoned me, we had a good talk and he's coming round for lunch tomorrow. The only downside is that I'll have to get out of bed at a reasonable time. XD
