Managed to motivate myself enough to go out walking this morning again. Found a bus route to follow, made it three miles or thereabouts this time. Most of it was up hill which I struggle with so I guess that was good.

Following bus routes is literally the only way I can go walking, but it's kind of interesting to see different routes, with a big red tour guide appearing at intervals to show the way forward :D

Just relieved that the storms didn't turn out like they were projected to yesterday and this morning. There were a few tornadoes and one fairly bad one to the east of where I live, and we had to take cover several times but nothing ended up happening here, thankfully.

I've had enough of this. I'm so ready to move.

A couple of things have made me smile today; one was on the way home, I stopped at a Puffin crossing and saw that the green person on the display had been decorated with a tiny sticker of a pink shopping bag in their hand - it was quite cute! The other one happened while reading some spooky stories from the Victorian era, wherein I encountered such outbursts as "a parcel of ignorant boys" and "the swaggering Cockney upstart". I love these insults that were probably incredibly scathing at the time but nowadays they just feel really quaint and charming. :D

This is from yesterday, but my other class of students took their exam yesterday morning. I couldn't get to see all of them as some were at another site and I was invigilating, but I got to speak to a few before the exam and wish them luck.

After the exam one of them emailed me to thank me for coming to support them. She said...

"Thank you for your support before the exam! And for being such a helpful tutor! You actually made me enjoy a topic I knew nothing about so thank you for being able to do that for me!"

...It means a lot to know you've made a difference to a student's education :D

I forgot to mention I found some MLP retro clothing. So now I have two sets of pajamas. One is of Gusty and Moondanser with the wrong eye and body colors and the other is of a pink rainbow pegasus without any symbol.

Did the morning school run, then decided to go into the next town to look through a few charity stores, on the hunt for fancy, vintage lampshades and a tall standard (floor) lamp.

Looked at the lampshades in one shop, but was drawn to the fancy vintage-style mirror, on sale for £10. It's one of those hinged mirrors that has three panes and sits on a dressing table. It has scroll-work and is painted white. I bought it...

...back home, I popped into my shed and dug out a past project, a shallow console table with three little drawers and a curvy finish - I bought this off ebay many years ago and had painted it white...  I placed it in my kid's room with the mirror atop it and WOW they look perfect together!

Draped a few vintage crystal beads, arranged some LED flickering candles and it now looks really lovely. My kid loves it!  :dance2:

Oh, I also scored a tall, wooden standard lamp for £25; just fitted the fuchsia-pink silk drum lampshade that I got for £1 at last Sunday's boot sale. Currently illuminating the master bedroom!

And got some floral "Rosamond" curtain fabric on clearance sale at £6/m at Laura Ashley, not entirely to my taste but figured it may come in useful!

And my tooth has behaved well, too!

Big smiles today, lots accomplished!

Just finished this weeks session of dnd. We were in a temple with a billion keys to unlock this pedestal and get a cube (were collecting them. Must have some significance) and we all thought something bad would happen if we put in the wrong key. Me (with a plus 8 proficiency in thieves tools) decided to pick the lock. Everybody leaves, fearing a trap might be sprung and kill us all, thinking I’m gonna die. I roll a natural 20, plus my proficiency bonus. Theme for plays and I instantly unlock the pedestal.
The 2 foot 5 gnome who acts like a small child just circumvented a puzzle some dnd master thought of in 1.5 seconds.
This. Sentence. Is. False! Dontthinkaboutitdontthinkaboutit.

A great bank holiday weekend.

Fun day at Hampton Court with sister on Saturday.
Two carboot sales.
Seeing friends from a now defunct community I hadn't seen in seven years today, and finally meeting among them an online friend of some vintage over from the US.
And my team won their game :)

Plus, the weather has been lovely.

Nice refreshing break from the academic crazy. :D

The sun is out.

If you know me, that'd probably be the last thing you'd ever expect to see my type.  The one and only reason I am saying this is because the last week and a half or so has been a constant barrage of tornadic thunderstorms and flooding. I've had to take cover so many times I can't even count anymore.

I hate it being sunny. I hate it being hot. But if it would just go into straight sunny hot days without any thunderstorms anymore that would be great, because severe thunderstorms with tornadoes are the absolute worst kind of weather where I live.
