I need someone more talented then me - BAB Pony Hair

Oh my goodness....Build a Bear Pony hair is awful!  I have a handful of ponies that I am trying to clean up but their hair is just a tangled mess of knots.  I've tried BAB cleaner from the store, fabric softener, conditioner, soaking....nothing is working!  It is super coarse and unmanageable.  Short of cutting it (not really ), I just don't know what to do.  I have heard that straighteners don't work well with this hair either.

Has anyone had ANY success untangling in?

I haven't even attempted. The first thing I did when I got my Pinkie and Rarity was braid both their hair so that it wouldn't get as bad (but just braiding it did tangle it... especially on Pinkie, since she's curly haired), but Pinkie's hair has started to escape the braids and is looking super bad atm, so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for any tips. :V

You can try hot water (not boiling!) and fabric softener. Then comb the hair underwater (gently, no pulling). Then use your iron to straighten it (lowest mode, it will melt otherwise! Use a kitchen towel to put between the iron and the hair!!)

I picked up Twilight Sparkle second hand and her mane and tail have some super dry bits. I found fabric conditioner and very careful combing helped.

Hope the post's not too old!
But, I've got a video for their hair issue. I decided to make it after getting TY Twilight Sparkle & she was really frizzy. I like her face shape better than BAB, but their hair is very similar. I think TY's is a little less thick/stiff per strand. However, the method works for both BABs and TY. They frizz up when kids put them in the bed and don't bind the hair first. Then it gets tangled/messy and they pull combing it out and it frizzes.

I made it because I don't think there's another specific plush de-frizzing video anywhere on YT, but tons of people could enjoy their plush more if the hair could be restored.
