Cross Stitching?
« on: February 27, 2017, 11:35:33 AM »
So, I decided to try out a new art form since drawing has lost it's spark for me. My boyfriends first suggestion was cross stitching, and I was really open to it because it's something my mother used to do when I was little. My first try went badly because I tried a complicated kit instead of something basic but my second try with a simpler kit went very well.

I was really hoping to see if anyone had some patterns they'd be willing to share for free or cheap? I can't buy right now but I can save links for later. I'm really looking for things like cartoon characters.I am browsing the web for patterns but hey, doesn't hurt to ask.

Please feel free to give me tips, I'm very much a beginner  :P

I don't know much about the craft, but I wonder if it would be easy to convert pixel images to cross stich? like older video games or even low resolution line art?

That's one of my plans! I'd like to make pixel art of me and my boyfriend or sprite art. I have previous experience with making perler bead art as well.

I don't have any patterns, but I just wanted to say that cross stitching is a great hobby! I've been doing it for years - I usually buy the small cheaper kits with everything included. I like how it is orderly and how the colors blend and how you slowly see your progress. :)
Hope you can find some neat patterns!

There are TONS of patterns on Pinterest. And probably a number of pattern sharing groups on Facebook.
Really any grid based pattern can be used as a cross stitch pattern.

I did cross stitch with my mom when I was young. Started with the usual beginners owl, so cute. I finished up some of my started projects over the last year or so. Still have a number of kits to do at some point, and a couple other patterns waiting around.
