Safe to wash Loop-de-la?
« on: January 29, 2017, 05:16:09 PM »
Yesterday, I got a G3 Loop-de-la in a lot from a local seller! Aside from her tutu needing new elastic, she's in decent shape!
Unfortunately, she didn't come with her stand/base/spinny doo-dad, so I'm not sure if she still lights up. If she does, I don't want to short out any wires or "guts" that are in her in case I decide to sell her someday.

I'd love to get her a new base, but I haven't had any luck finding one with the spinning, light-up part still attached (in other words, the useful part is missing). Does anyone have any experience working with her? Is there a way I can hook up a potato clock to the metal part on her foot to test her light-up action? :P

You could always take a moist towelette or use a damp cloth with soap on it.

That's true...what about the hair? Does she have any wires near her head?

I don't know. My advice is to keep the water stream low and hold her upside down so that her hair won't touch the rest of her then wrap her hair up in the towel/dry wash cloth on the way over and dry her hair immediately.

She has wires in her head that light up her crown.  I'm not sure how to test her without the stand . . . I guess find a way to run a current through her?  (Be careful, ha ha.)

She is in lovely condition.
She notoriously has REALLY bad hair. It is dry, frizzy, mats easily and melts at a much lower temperature than normal pony hair. I`ve heard it called "AVON hair?"
I think I have 6 of her and they all have horrible hair.

I thought her hair felt rather crunchy. it makes this awful scratchy noise if you rub it together  If it's that frizzy, i might just braid it and leave it be.

I`d condition it, run a comb through it while wet and never brush her hair again lol.
