Gift for a new Mum with C Section!
« on: January 27, 2017, 02:55:05 AM »
Help!
One of my best friends has been told that she has to have a C-Section, which isn't what she was hoping for.
What would you recommend as a gift for her after bubba is born?

Any advice is appreciated!

Would a heating pad/ice pack to help with the pain work?
Soft, light blanket
Loose, light comfortable clothes that won't aggravate the stitches?

Lotsa pain killer? (Just kidding)

I had an emergency c section with my little boy. It was a very complicated birth and we were both very ill but I defiantly second loose comfy clothes. Maybe a really nice pair of pj's? I practically live din mine for 2 weeks as they were comfy. Slippers and dressing gown always a good bet if she has to stay in hospital.
A nice photo frame to put a picture of the baby in? Treats as hospital food isn't always the best haha! A soft toy the mum can take with her to hospital then give the baby when born?
Hope these ideas help a little!

A nightie that doesn't touch her stomach with cozy floofy socks/slippers and a housecoat.

Coming from someone that has issues with anything that is pressing against her stomach, a nightgown is better then a 2 piece top/bottom.

Maybe a cute throw pillow? After I had my C-section I had to carry one around and press it against my stomach if I laughed, coughed, sneezed, or cried. I hated carrying around that ugly pillow.

I was born by an emergency c-section, and I would suggest a cute robe. Mom still has the robe she wore during her first pregnancy, almost 16 years ago.

I had an emergency C-section a few years back.  Honestly, the thing I wanted most was help around the house so I could put my feet up!  Maybe a voucher book with 'chores' you can do for her?  :D

Encouragement to WALK, WALK, WALK!  It helps everything heal faster.  So maybe nice running shoes?

Yes - I second the idea of loose clothing / nightie / pretty loungewear / robe  :)

A home cooked meal. No really, I would have given my left arm for a cooked meal after my last c section.

Unfortunately, we're not in the same city, so that's a little tough to achieve!

If you do the nighty - sleeveless and loose fitting so that she can just pull the strap down to nurse, Not wiggle the whole nighty up to her neck.
A Bassinet on wheels. Not having to get up out of bed to nurse was the best thing for my C-section.
A video monitor so that she doesn't have to go up and down the stairs every time the baby makes a noise.
Disposable cutlery, plates, glasses. Doing dishes those first few weeks post C is painful.
If you are a good cook - frozen casseroles in tin dishes that can just pop in the oven and bake.

I'd like to suggest, a pillow that contours to your body easily. With a C-Section it is recommended that you place a pillow to your abdomen before standing; this helps keep the staples in place, and it helps the shift of your tummy.

A nice pillow with a microfiber pillowcase would be awesome to get. <3

As someone whose had 2 C-sections, help around the house would be my best suggestion.

But, since you don't live near her, then loose fitting clothing with easy nursing access would be my next thought.  You could also send gift cards for diapers and clothing.  Newborns go through a lot of diapers, and if anything like my second child, lots of clothes due to reflux!
