Unusual hoof markings for G1 Brush n grow Curly Locks
« on: January 22, 2017, 10:59:01 PM »
Hi Guys

Just bought a lot of ponies from Ebay and noticed an unusual hoof marking on my Brush n grow Curly Locks.

All my other girls have had made in Hong Kong stamped on the hoof but ive noticed this girl has made in China. Now that in itself isnt too unusual but what ive found odd is the fact the stamp seems to be slightly circular and all on the 1 hoof rather than 'made in@ on one and 'China' on the other.

Anyone know where this particular type of hoof marking originates from?

These are pretty hard to find. I've also seen a Pretty Vision with the circular China stamp (although I foolishly sold her as a double not realizing she was rare at the time).

I've also only seen Pretty Vision. I think Lady G has one - if she still has it. I seem to remember vaguely her buying one at ponycon one year..? Unless I hallucinated that or it was someone else. But I definitely have seen Pretty Vision. I've not seen any of the others till now :) Congrats on your find :)

I've never looked under the hooves of my Curly Locks/Pretty Vision.  When I unpack them at some point :p I'll have to check!  I wonder if more girls from this set have that variation?

I checked mine, bought on card here.

Ringlets and Pretty Vision - Hong Kong

Braided Beauty - China! (but normal stamp, not circular)

I have others from the set but they were bought online so I don't know their origin. And they are all Hong Kong I think.

One or two of my BnGs have that stamp. Have to check when they move in their new home. I always thought it was rather common, seems as though I was wrong :)

ETA: Checked their hooves as the box with them was nearby. I have a Curly Locks and a Twisti Tail (European release) with that circular China stamp. Both were bought in Germany.

I do still have her! She still needs a good groom though, lol.

These do seem to be fairly few and far between, but we don't know much about them at all. Given it's China rather than Hong Kong and that indicates a later release, plus that they appear to have been found in Europe, would assume that they are European, but how they relate to the normal China stamp (before or after?) I have no idea! XD
