Fakie or original Hasbro?
« on: December 30, 2016, 09:27:36 AM »
Ok, what do you think? Are these original Hasbro or fakies?
The orange one has a rooted tail.  Both without symbols.

They are vintage fakies. :)  I believe the idea was for kids to paint their own symbols on them.  The green one originally had a white tail.

Usually a pony made in China will be a fakie (but not always, of course), and missing Hasbro hoof logos are a good indicator as well. The baby pony molds have been a favorite off and on at dollar stores for a long time now, so a-lot of customizers like to use them as bases uvu, regardless I think the green one is pretty cute with its new yarn tail lol

Thanks for the info. Already thought they would be fakies, but they indeed are very convincing.

The ones at the Dollar Store are usually newborn mold fakies.  :)  Sadly these fakies haven't been in stores for a long time.  They are relatively rare.

I only have the pink one.  At least she used to be pink, she has darkened / discolored to a pink-orange over the years.  I call her Baby Voodoo since her brunette hair gives the illusion that she's been rehaired with human hair, lol.

She's made of a VERY thin and squishy plastic and her head pops off easily (no glue).

They really must be HTF.... there is a bidding war going on! At the moment 30 Euro is the highest. That's a lot for fakies?

they are fakies, they came with a paint brush and paint set to customize them. They were from the 80's or early 90's..
My sister won the kangaroo fakie from this series with paint set when she was in third-grade.. So this indicates that they were sold in the USA, probably in some dollar stores back in the day, but are extremely rare here.

I just aquired the two you have shown this year.. I have been looking for them for atleast 10 years but have always been out of my price range.

There are also newer g1 baby fakies in baby blossoms pose with bananas, oranges and other fruits on them. They were part of some gift set pack of fakies a few years back in Europe. They tend to go for a pretty high price as well.

I have one of these, I think - an orangey baby who seems to have a pose similar to the peruvian cotton candy baby, but has the same cheap material body and her hair is white or blond, can't remember exactly. I called her Baby Misty when I found her as her colours reminded me of the baby sea pony who changes colour.

I wonder how many of them there are.

I remember seeing the winged one in pictures of "how to identify fakies" back on the internet when I first started joining the forums.

I wonder what company made them or if it was just random factories... and I wonder where they were originally sold? Dollar stores?

I got lucky when I found the pink one. The lady I'd helped price and ID her ponies she had out let me have it for $5 even though I told her that it was worth closer to $15 to the right people, maybe higher if she auctioned it at the right time. She decided money in hand was better.   I'm still looking for the rest of the Color Me babies to fill in my MLP mold fakies collection.
Creatively cute and proud of it!  Have a very good day, [you]!  ^.^

I'm making custom cute pony plushies and have set up an Etsy store called Ponies A'More! Ponies + More + LOVE! :inlove:
Finally got my SALES thread up and update it as I can.  :satisfied:
Lastly, posting my Wishlist here!
