What are everyone’s thoughts on In Your Corner of the World and From Up On Poppy Hill?

I started to read the In Your Corner of the World manga, but I don't really like the art style so I haven't finished it. I haven't seen the movie yet but I think it's waiting for me at the library! I liked From Up On Poppy Hill when I saw it, though it's not my favorite Ghibli movie. It was pretty good, though.

I love it
It can be a bit confusing with the timelines and all that but once you get the hang of it, it's a nice touch to the high school nostalgia. Especially if you like the sort of fantasy thing.

In Your Corner of the World, the storyline is quite simple (I prefer Your Name) as the main character is a simple village girl. The romance part is cute though, and I like that the feels are not too heavy on this one, at least for me. *cough5cmpersecondcough*

I love this film In Japanese it's called Kimi no Na Wa, which carries the nuance pretty much of "Your name is..?" and that resonates more to me with the story.

It does for me what Lala land should have done, but wasn't brave enough to because Hollywood is too mainstream. I didn't really get excited about Lala Land although there were plaudits and awards being thrown at it, it was fine but pretty predictable.  Kimi no Na Wa/Your Name was out at the same time and I think it's much better. If you have a chance to, I recommend watching it I don't think it's confusing, but I dunno, did you watch it in English? I don't know how they dubbed it, as I've only seen it in Japanese, and sometimes translations sweep across important things and details go missing :/

Ironically both films were in cinemas when I was in Japan. I got such weird looks from the people waiting to see Lala Land because I was obviously a foreigner yet obviously going to see a Japanese film (not Kimi no Na Wa, a different one).

I'm not a huge fan of Ghibli. I like a couple but that's it. I guess that probably makes me an alien.

It's sooooo good! I saw it pretty recently, and as soon as I watched the movie I ordered the manga. And the third (and last) volume of the manga just came out in English!

I haven’t  watched Your Name, From Up on Poppy Hill or In This Corner of the World yet. I picked up Sailor Moon Super S part 1 (Viz dub) today.

My sister and I grew up on anime. I have some treasured memories of us going to the library to scour the shelves for new VHS tapes of our favorites or new ones that we've never heard of.

I don't watch it as much as I used to, but I still watch it from time to time. Most things in the idol or magical girl genres are my weakness.

Has anyone seen that Sanrio mini-series/anime? 'Aggurestuko' or something like that. I don't have Netflix right now, but from the clips I've seen, it looks hilarious.
