help !!!! custom making 101

hi guys,  i need some fast help on what are some of the products you use and where to find them. 

rerooting tool
hair hank things, different colors
paints
what type of brushes? 
what is that clay stuff for molding things


yeah i know nothing about this stuff but need to get some as a possible gift

for hair/reroot tools it is usually recommended you buy from dollyhair.com, however lots of other sites sell the equipment too. dollyhair is good because its user-friendly and she carries pretty much every single hair color you could want, for about the same price as everywhere else. if you're using it for ponies, she sells pony-sized hanks here.

for paints, it is recommended that you use very watered down acrylics. any kind will do usually. you can find lots of acrylics and micheal's, joanns, walmart, hobby lobby, etc. Brushes aren't that important. you'll probably want a set of small brushes over big ones, so detailing is easier. (IE something like this) lots of people think having like, sable hair brushes and whatever is important, but it's not really unless you're a professional painter. for a starting out kit, just a cheap brush pack from micheal's will be fine. you can always upgrade later.

the clay you are searching for, i'm assuming, is called apoxie sculpt. it's easily found on amazon, but i beleive you can also find it at hobby lobby, maybe micheal's but im not sure.

i recommend checking out MLP Preservation Project for finer details on supplies, techniques, etc.

rerooting tool - get a round xacto knife handle and a size 24 embroidery needle. that's all you need (and some strong wire cutters to cut the eye of the needle

hair - dollyhair, retrodolls, restoredoll, doll planet

paints - acrylic paint from the craft store (folkart, anita's americana, etc - no need for high end stuff). some wallmart also have paint

clay - I like apoxie sculpt (aves studio online is where you can order it - not sold in stores). this is air drying to so no need to bake. you can get baking polymer clays at craft stores

First I bought hair from dollyhair and made my own rerooting tool.
The I bought one from thedollplanet and hair there too.
TheDollplanet are really nice and friendly, same as dollyhair. So it depends on the time for shipping and the colors. Dollyhair has pretty every color you might think of or need.
