So glad to hear yous are okay! I read that the damage is mostly infrastructure, but in some of the coastal communities, it seems to me that people would really be quite cut off from things. We spoke again with my grandad, and another tremor was starting up as we were on the phone. He's not terribly close to the coast as far as New Zealand distance standards go, lol, but it's such a small island, that I can't help but worry regardless. I'm just glad that at least he isn't in a flat on his own anymore, he has a flat in a retirement village, so the administrative staff at least will check in on residents and help with evacuation if necessary.
i feel so bad for the familys who's houses have been looted already disgusting
