How to sell off collection
« on: October 29, 2016, 01:03:34 PM »
For someone looking to sell off most or all of their entire collection, what seems to be the best way of going about it?

Is it best to break things down into small groups or small lots? Or group everything together in one huge giant lot?

Any advice would greatly be appreciated as to the best way to go with this. :)

Thank you!

Hardly anyone has the cash to buy a whole collection in one go.  So I would break them into their sets and see how popular the ones you have are.  If it's G1 or G2, you will do much better than G3 or G4.

take detailed pictures of everything!

Some ponies will sell really well by themselves but others are so common that you may want to group them, just to make sure you do get rid of them.

Tell us more, tell us more, we can't really help with the limited information you've posted.

Most of my collection is G3. I do have some G1's, but those are probably not being sold off, it's mostly all the G3's that are going to be sold.

Playsets like the Celebration Castle, Butterfly Island, Celebration Salon, and tons and tons of individual ponies.

I have pictures but not sure how to attach them here. Have been gone from this sight for a few years and it's all different now. ;)

you will need somewhere like photobucket or flickr to post your photos :)

the market for G3 has not increased yet - most are still under retail value.  the htf and exclusives have some higher values but you are looking at $2-6 a pony for most G3's.  playsets are near impossible to sell as shipping rates have increased steadily over the past few years...  but locally and at meet-ups, you might have some luck!

Selling as one lot = less time, but less profit.  Selling individually = more time, more profit.

I've sold G3s on eBay for $5 (as Buy It Nows) but you have to be very, very patient and basically keep relisting the ones that don't sell.
