Online art portfolio?
« on: October 28, 2016, 10:29:06 AM »
Does anybody here have a place where they keep kinda a more professional/formal art portfolio? If yes then where??

I've got accounts on most of the usual places, but I'm looking for a place where I won't be tempted to revert back to casual after a week of serious use.
I think a personal website would be the best way to go about that, but who's got the time n money for that?

What would you guys recommend? Should I just stay on deviantart and websites like it? I was considering Instagram, but how do they deal with copyright and art theft? Would it be worth my while to start off on a free web host?

(Also sorry if this ain't in the right section, feel free to move me if so)

I would go with Coroflot, Weebly, or maybe Squarespace

If you want to avoid art theft while maintaining an online presence with your work, I would find a professional agent to represent you!

Otherwise pretty much the rule is, "If you uploaded it to the Internet, you just gave it away, and anyone can and WILL likely use it!"

Unfortunately, that doesn't prevent art theft. '

OP- other options are behance, or if you do set up your own site-- word press is easy to use. Some artists use multiple sites that they share their art on.

I use Behance to post my portfolio for professional purposes. It's a nice, clean, basic layout, easy to use, and you can link to other sites like LinkedIn from it!

Yeah it's practically impossible to prevent art theft any way except telling people to not do it in the first place. Not even big name companies who can can afford to take cation against thieves can stop all of it!

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I'm gonna be checking out a few of these that I haven't heard of yet (Except Coroflot; that's maybe a little TOO professional for where I'm at.)
