What musicals do you like?

Yay, so many fans of musicals!  I could go on and on about these. I don't think I can choose one favorite musical since it's so hard to pick, but My Fair Lady is very high up on my list. It has fabulous music, hilarious witty dialogue, and a fantastic love-hate relationship Other favorites have been named already. There are so many! In general, I like a lot of the "older" classics, like most Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals.

Oh, just today I was excited to learn that Wicked is coming to my area in February! I've wanted to see it for so long! Tickets are expensive, but I hope I can go!

My absolute favorite is Into the Woods. I've seen two live productions (college productions) as well as the recorded original cast production from Broadway, and the new Disney movie.  I love the songs so much, especially "Moments in the Woods", "Agony"/"Agony" Reprise, "I Know Things Now", and of course, the Act I Prologue.   

I love Into the Woods! I literally grew up watching the original cast production (my parents taped it off public television). I half attribute my love of musicals to this early exposure.

I love so many: Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis, Hairspray, Into the Woods, Miss Saigon, Sweeney Todd and I plan to go see the Lion King.

West Side Story. I even have the record album so that I can listen to it, whenever I feel the need for vinyl.

Cats Don't Dance is also really good.

I also like this movie.  Fun thing: I have my DVDs in alphabetical order so "Cats Don't Dance" is right after my DVD of "CATS".  I find it amusing.

I love musicals. Living in London has meant that if I have an excuse, I try to go. Last year I went to some show of some kind once a month, but this year I've had to save a bit more and it's a bit further, so none yet.

I like Les Mis, it's very cool and the music is stunning. I also love Wicked, because it's funny and so much better than that terrible book, and Miss Saigon. Miss Saigon was absolutely amazing when it was on here in the West End.

Oh, I almost forgot, I saw Cats last winter when it was on briefly here. It was a lot better than I think I expected it to be. I went because I wanted to see Memory performed live, because I'd always known it since I was a child, but it did not disappoint.

Nope, Tak, Jesus Christ Superstar is fine and has already been mentioend...not so many times as Le Miz of course...

I'm so happy to see so many people mention Les Miz.  I have actually bored people talking about it because they aren't fans of the show and don't understand why I love it so much.

when do we get some pony reenactments of these musicals:  Jean Valjeanpony, Ponysette,  et al

My pony persona is Marius from Les Mis. I think someone does have a Valjean custom pony. I saw a picture of it once.

Phantom is one that I'd like to see. A friend kept promising me that I could come see her and we would see a Broadway show together. I always thought it would be Phantom or Les Mis so I stayed away from most of the Phantom stuff so I would have a chance to see the show in person before deciding if I would love it, but it doesn't look like I will get to see it on Broadway anytime soon and a local theater just did a version staring a veteran of the London and Broadway productions but I couldn't afford tickets to see it.

Ponyfan, Phantom isn't as complex and heroic as Le Miz but the music can be a wonderful experience.  It's much more tragic.

After trying it both ways, I find live performance is best when I already know the story so I can focus on enjoying it instead of keeping track of what's going on and maybe getting lost somewhere.

There are many versions of Phantom out there, I recommend trying one out ASAP.

Speaking of stage experiences I am sure someone has mentioned Nutcracker?  It's in season!

John Owen Jones is a vocal wonder.

It's funny to notice that the Broadway and the UK version of Phantom have several differences in the performance...
Like when Christine faints in front of the mirror.
In UK, Erik catches her, and on the video from the Broadway version i saw, she just crumples on the floor....
