I didn't like mayonnaise when I was younger and would never eat it, but I've come to appreciate it as I got older.  I usually like vinegar on fries myself, but mayo would be my second choice!  Sometimes, when I want something a bit lighter than mayonnaise on something, I use vegan mayonnaise, since it has a less heavy flavor.  Miracle Whip disgusts me though. :P

It's pretty interesting how tastes change with age, some foods I used to dislike, like olives and anchovies, I really like now, while I absolutely cannot stand bell peppers anymore.

I'm not terribly fond of either, but if I had to choose, I'd go with mayo.  I only like mayo in potato salad or chicken salad.  :)

As for other foods, I didn't like avocado until very recently.  I'm very picky about raw foods and I found avocado to be too mushy when it was by itself (though I was fine with it in sushi.)   Now...  well, I don't love it but I like it well enough.  :)

*insane cackle*

That photo is from Amsterdam, across the canal from central station. Although we did have our first fry/mayo experience in Bruges just a couple weeks beforehand.
I wonder why they have a fries place called "Manneken Pis" (the lil boy peeing, symbol of Brussels), in Amsterdam? Maybe a belgian owner?

I'll be sure to ask if i ever go there :) (in fact i was in Amsterdam last Saturday, but not in that vicinity)

Maybe because they probably are so-called 'Flemish Fries'?

Definetely Mayo, but Mayonnaise on a sandwich? *shivers* We eat it with French Fries here :P

Yes! This is what I thought! Now I love fries and mayo! Also with peanut sauce. Mmmm!

Miracle Whip by a landslide. Its has some sorta sweetness to me. Heck, I used to just put it on some white sandwich bread and just ate it. Yup, bread and miracle whip...those were the days.  ^.^

Maybe because they probably are so-called 'Flemish Fries'?

Does that even really exist?
"French fries" are already a pure abomination (and a false name)...

The "real" fries are Belgian.
Cooked twice, as proper fries should be, to avoid turning into fat sponges.
Crunchy oustide and warm to the core.

(Though i had some decent ones in the Netherlands, that's true).

And i regret that we don't have saté sauce here, amongst the dozen of sauces we commonly find in fries shops.

Mayo, I hate Miracle Whip! I loveeee mayonnaise. Terrible but so good.

I eat mayo with my fries more often than ketchup probably (though really I try to stay away from fries and mayo anyway). Or ranch dressing.

MAYO!

I remember the first time I was offered mayo and got miracle whip. So confused! Far too sweet, so it's real mayo all the way. although.... I did use a little MW to recreate a shameful relic of my past (copycatted my own GF version of the macaroni salad that I remember at KFC)

Mayo on fries is heaven btw always loved it since I was a kid (despite the horrified looks I'd get, don't knock it till you try it. :) ) and Thank you Europe for making me feel like less of a freak.

Probably could still eat it now as a kidult. But it's be a waste of money and food since I would be the only one eating miracle whip and bread  ^^;

I think I have never in my life put anything other than ketchup on my fries.

Same. I can't fathom using anything other than ketchup for my dear french fries.

Mustard on french fries are also a thing. Not sure if its a southern thing though...

It does... well it's a term for the type of fries. "French Fries" are thinner? *totally not going off topic :P * I prefer the Belgian ones :)

Gravy or chili are both good, too, but don't listen to these crazy people. They are crazy.

I've never seen anyone put mustard on their fries, haha. I see LOADS of people drown everything they eat in ranch dressing, though. I will never understand that...I like ranch-flavored Doritos and Fritos, but there ends my relationship with ranch.

I'm a total ketchup fiend; I love Chick-fil-A's Polynesian sauce, but I rarely dip my fries in it, since I only ever get enough for the nuggets. When I go to Raising Cane's, though, I don't even bother with ketchup for anything since their Cane's sauce is so good!
