Paint & Rehairing Problem
« on: August 24, 2016, 10:19:15 PM »
I have a problem that keeps turning up its ugly head that I would like to pick your brain...

I usually paint the bodies first then get to rehairing. I use a spray sealant which I am not really liking much but when I go to rehair, especially on soft bodies, when I push the hair in the paint lifts and breaks off or chips away. Forcing me to repaint the damage. Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else dealt with this issue and fixed it? Or found the magic solution to prevent this from happening?

What kind of spray sealant are you using?  :(

Sometimes sealing under the paintwork first works.

I've had this happen a couple times, but most of the time no issue. the super-soft bodied ones give too much when we rehair which is what cause the cracking and breaking. maybe just try less hair per plug? I haven't found a solution, but it also comes up on maybe 5% of the customs I've done lol
