How to Make New Hairline?

I have an idea for a custom if I can get my hands on the right bait, but the way I envision would entail adding a lot more hair where there are no plug holes. What's the best way to make new plug holes without damaging the plastic? I'd be using a G1 bait. Thanks!

I use a drawing pin it helps to mark out where you want the plugs to go.

I tend to start by drawing the hairline I want in pencil and then I make the holes using a large embroidery needle.
