I am now part of the 501st!

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but at the local convention I went to in June, I was actually invited by the members of the 501st to join! If you have never heard of the 501st, that's alright, I can explain. They are the premier group of Star Wars villain cosplayers in the world BUT they have a clone division, so you can guess where I am.

I am planning on fabricating the majority of the costume myself. The character I am going to be is the demolitions expert from Delta Squad (A team of Republic commandos who had their own video game). His name is Scorch, from my understanding, he is not exactly the most serious, and has a sense of humor.

I am still so shocked that I was invited, given not just anyone gets an invite.

Thanks! I totally forgot to mention that they do a lot of charity stuff and being a Girl Scout that is no big deal. If anyone has no idea what Scorch looks like, that's something I can solve. After all, I have him as a 3 3/4 scale figure!

That might be a while. I need to get all the materials and that's not going to be cheap. But I will try and post when I get parts fabricated.

My husband is a member.  Enjoy!  He has about 4-5 armored 501st approved costumes.  He really enjoys the charity aspect of the group.  I know he would say, spend the money and the time to get the correct costume as it will have to be approved by your 501st group.  Take your time.  It is a wonderful organization.  Don't be afraid to ask them for help.  Here they have armor parties from time to time to help members build their armor.  There is good armor and bad armor so ask lots of questions.  My husband has built all of his on his own, but when he first started they helped him a lot with it.
