I follow lots of accounts but I don't post much because I dislike how they force images into a square format when my phone takes rectangular photos. It either cuts part of it or shrinks it with bars on the side.

You can actually post rectangular photos (horizontal or vertical), but they have to be a certain size. Or you can download an editor app that puts your rectangular picture in a square without cutting anything off. That's what I've always done. It's a little bit of a round-about way to do it,  but not too much of a hassle.

That can be remedied with a free app called no crop

No crop is an awesome app! The only thing I dislike about it is when I use it and then want to put a filter on, the box changes colours too. Not a huge deal but a bit annoying.
