I'm fine with (might prefer) just a simple gathering to talk, trade, maybe bring a few brag items. I'm not opposed to a full pony meet, but that takes planning, money etc. And right now simple and easy sounds nice :)

To me the ideal would be to get a regular meet up going every few months.

My schedule is going to be a bit crazy the next few months anyway so smaller gatherings might be ideal to start. I'm more than willing to do something a bit larger after things get settled a bit. :)

I'm right in Waldorf so about a half hour outside of DC. I'm sure there are some places around here where we could meet up. Depending on the amount of people I could maybe offer up my house. It would take some planning depending on what we would all want to do. Just a general meet up/buying/selling/trading or if we would want some activities etc. along with that. :)
Waldorf MD is perfect for me, its exactly 2 hours and is definitely something that I could easily make into a day trip :)

If everyone is good with Waldorf I can try to think of a few places to meet up. If not, like I said we can default to my house (pony room tours anyone? ). I have plenty of room for everyone and have tables and stuff if people want like a selling/bragging area. It wouldn't have to be anything major really. I wouldn't go pony crazy and decorate the whole house but we have extra chairs and should have enough room depending on how many people want to come. Anyone have an approximate timeframe that they are looking at? I know labor day weekend was mentioned but that's in 10 or so days and I'm booked on Saturday for sure. I could probably pull something off at my house in the next month or so... maybe toward the end of September? Or if people want to meet elsewhere that is more than fine. I'll just have to think of a few places that could accommodate a group :)

I should also note that I have a dog (but the neighbors can babysit him), 6 cats, and 2 chinchillas. So if anyone is allergic to cats my house is NOT the place to be.

Sothern MD is looking good :) Its really sweet of you to offer your home nessy, I'm good with houses or public places, whatever works best :) and no worries on pets, I have pets and kids too :) If we want a VA location at some point, maybe a later gathering, we could use my house some time too (I'm in Burke VA).

I will be out of town end of September/ early October and then late Nov-new year I probably will be out of commission with a new baby (I'm sort of pregnant ;) ) but absolutely lets plan for what works for the majority of people :) yey! I'm glad something is picking up on this!

Ok great! I'll wait for some more responses and then maybe we can get planning things. First thing is we need a good date narrowed down. What looks good in September for everyone?

I only just saw this, I'm a MD collector!  I'm not sure how great my availability will be since college will be kicking into gear soon, but I'd like to come if I can!

If anyone is on Facebook groups, the TP or has local collector friends maybe let them know and try to direct them here?

At risk of derailing the topic, which school do you go to?  I'm at UMBC.

After Labor Day weekend, it's looking like I won't have a Saturday off again until November.  If I can move the classes I teach around to be able to make it, I will.

Hey nessy,  how about picking a date and see what flies?  I will definitely try to get there and maybe I can talk Rowdy-Cowgirl into coming too.

Ok.... so I'm thinking mid October? 14th or 21st? Weather should still be good so we could do some stuff outside too if we want. Any input on that? I would also kind of like a estimate on how many people would plan on coming.

I have a rather large house and can move some things around. I'll probably see with my neighbor if she can watch my dog so he doesn't get underfoot. And I'll lock the cats upstairs in my bedroom so there's no chance for them to get underfoot or escape outside with doors being open/closed.

I believe I have plenty of tables for buying trading-- if not my neighbor has tons and she doesn't mind me borrowing them if needed. Same thing with chairs. Plus it gives me an excuse to do a deep clean/purge in my house! I'll probably try to set up a few activities. Pony bingo and maybe a few other things. Maybe a surprise pony swap? Are people interested in doing activities? Anyone willing to bring prizes for the activities or maybe a raffle prize table? I'm trying to draw on some previous pony meets I've been to without stepping on anyone's toes!

I know some meets have like a pony of the day and everyone brings theirs along for the group picture. Maybe we could do a bring your favorite pony?

I don't know-- I'm just trying to throw a few things out there to see what sticks.

Let me know if you are interested in attending and what day will work better for you. I might try to reach out to some more of my MD area friends that aren't on the board too much to see if they'll want to stop by.

Also please feel free to share your ideas! I'd love to hear them. Hopefully we can get a good size group together :)
