Help with USPS website (pricing of a shipment)
« on: July 12, 2016, 10:31:40 AM »
Hi fellow pony friends   :)

I've been looking on the USPS website, but I couldn't find the answer to my question (I'm foolish, I know   ), so I was hoping that some of you might be able to help me with this   :)

How much would it cost to send an envelope (size 9.0 X 12.8 in) from CA 90064, USA to Dublin Ireland?

Which stamps would I need for that, and where can I buy those online?

I live in Ireland, so i have no idea how USPS works  :-)

Thanks so much to everyone helping me out!   :)

Do you mean a padded envelope with a pony or something like that inside?  It will depend on the weight.

You can look up the cost here:

https://ircalc.usps.com/?country=10210

Zip code won't matter since it's international mail. :)  A padded envelope would count as either "Package" or "Large Package."

Is someone else sending you the item, since you live in Ireland?  If so, you would send them the money for the shipping cost, probably through Paypal, and they would be the ones who actually purchased postage.

If I misunderstood and YOU are sending a package from California to Ireland, then you can either purchase postage off the USPS' website or pay for postage when you go into the post office to mail the item.

Hope that helps!

Hi LadyMoondancer,

Thank you so much for getting back to me!   :)

I actually need to send something out to California, and I was asked to include a self stamped envelope to have a letter returned to me. So it's super light.

I checked the USPS website, and I think I would need First Class Mail International, as that seems to be the cheapest option for just a letter. But the website doesn't seem to give pricing on that. So that's why I was hoping someone here would know how much that would be   :)

I checked the prices they had on their priority mail options, but that was 30 USD or more even, and that seems quite over the top! Haha

OK, here I can help.

Go here: https://ircalc.usps.com/?country=10150

Select your go to country. At the bottom you'll see letter, large letter, package, etc....you'll be able to select which it is. For weight, since it's light, just enter 0 lbs, 1 oz. You should be able to get your answer that way.
