Pokémon Go! Lapras and Articuno

I hatched a Magby and Smoochum they both came out of 10km eggs.

It seems to be back to rats, pigeons and sparrows here. There is no sign of any of the new Pokemon even though there are all the numbers in my Pokedex.

Very nice! Yeah; there's not much around except for Rattatas et al. It's like I can hear crickets chirping at Niantic headquarters I think eventually they'll add some new content or do another event, but unless I missed an announcement not much is happening right now.

In the meantime I'm just playing more casually than usual and getting into more gyms. My theory is that there may be fewer people playing right now and it's a good time to get coins.

I can hear the crickets too!!! I guess the events made it a bit fun again as you could get cool things a little more easily again.

I should gym more often and get coins so I can upgrade my storage and such

A Scyther has been in my area the past few nights, but I've not seen him yet. I can't go out at 2am to track him down

Haven't had much luck with my hunt lately but then again, there's so few I'm still missing now so all I can really do is to take walks to earn buddy candy and open eggs and hope I bump into one of the few elusive I still need

My game finally got the update it seems.. I still haven't even see all the pokemon..

I know some of mine are just because I haven't evolved some but when you don't get enough candies and can't really go walking everywhere xD

This game is giving me mood swings! Mid-week I didn't really care about opening the app and didn't collect my bonuses. When all you see are Pidgeys and Venonats, it isn't fun. But my sister wanted to go Pokémon-hunting on Friday and so for her birthday and because soon she won't be able to get off work early (she's an accountant; tax season), we headed out to the beach. It was Pokémon heaven! Tourists + a new area = tons of Pokéstops and several Pokémon we don't regularly see in the suburbs. Not only was it refreshing to be able to walk through the touristy downtown and get Pokestops every several feet, but we were able to find an Omanyte, lots of Voltorbs, a Ponyta, Magikarps (I'm very close to a second Gyrados that I really hope doesn't have Twister), Squirtles, Shellders, Seels (very rare for us!), Kabuto, and even a Diglett. To make things even better, on our way back we ran into a Magmar and then a Snorlax in our very own neighborhood! My sister was so happy to get a Magmar.

I'm also very happy to have finally hatched a Chansey on the same day! Chansey's an old favorite of mine and I've wanted one for some time I placed her at the bottom of a gym today and she's defending it well so far.

Today was a notable day as well -- my sister and I were at church and actually noticed a shadow on our radar. That hasn't happened in forever. It was a Jynx! We have never seen one spawn anywhere. We hurried down to the Pokestop and caught it!

When we got home, a Dragonair spawned in our neighborhood! I caught it but my sister didn't

Awesome! I really want a Togepi; I get a lot of 5K eggs, but none of them have been Togepi so far. My sister hatched one two days ago, which was awesome because it was almost her birthday and she hasn't been getting many baby Pokémon.

I ended up being stuck home so I could not get my first catch nor my first poke-stop of the day.. oh well I can get them tomorrow and manage to hopefully get the full streak this week

Give it some time. One on the youtubers I follow say that if you are getting the same hatches from one pokestop, try another. Sadly for some of us that isn't all the feasible

Had a good pokemon weekend. I have enough candy to evolve Sandshrew now. I was able to evolve my Mankey and Vulpix. And thanks to the magnikarp respawing at the zoo I need less than 100 candies to go to evolve it. Today I finally caught not one but two Jinx! I'd never encountered one in the wild before so it was surprising to get two in one day. My pokedex is up to 119 caught and 135 seen now.

The only disappointing thing is after hatching 5 more eggs this weekend I still haven't gotten any of the babies.

I only got two babies and oddly enough both of them have a triple number (IE: 333 or 888)

When your character is walking around the map screen, and you tap the screen and get the blue dot with chime - what does that do? Anything?

Current thought: I need Gen 2 . . . I've nearly completed my Pokedex and I'm not even a completionist. I'm still working towards a few Pokémon (Dewgong, Lapras), but Gen 2 or some new features would be hugely welcome right now. I am finding a strange joy in evolving some high-quality common Pokémon, though, like a Butterfree with bug bite/bug buzz and nearly perfect IVs, and just now a Pidgeot with nearly perfect IVs but a bad moveset, unfortunately (steel wing/air cutter). Maybe I should move on to Raticate and Fearow now, lol.

I have a question -

When your character is walking around the map screen, and you tap the screen and get the blue dot with chime - what does that do? Anything?

Nope -- absolutely nothing. Not sure why that feature's in the game!

My Go+ flashed yellow today for the first time ever and I made the mistake of pressing the button on reflex instead of manually catching it in the app, and the Pokemon ran away. My journal said it was an Abra, which I already have plenty of. I don't have Ditto yet, could it have been one?
