Hi
« on: June 14, 2016, 04:59:58 PM »
Hi everyone,

My third child got me into MLP once more (she is in love with them). It was one of my three favorite toys as a child. I actually love toys in general. I have a bunch of Lalaloopsies, LEGO, vintage Polly Pockets, vintage Fisher Price and now Ponies! I love the 1st generation but also have lots of G3 and G4. I share them (and the other toys) with my kids.

I'm 33 and I live in Canada, in a french speaking province since my teens. I studied in archaeology (maybe that's the deal with all the old toys) but stopped practicing when I had my children. Whan the kids are older, I hope to go back to field work, it is so amazing. I'm usually a very shy person (even online??) and this is the longest post I have made, ever!

Welcome to the Arena

Sounds like you live in a giant toy store!!!  I'm sure you have so much fun with them and your kids together.  Do you have any fave ponies that stand out in your collection?

Look forward to seeing you around :)

I never saw it as a giant toy store, but it's quite accurate.

I really like Masquerade as she was my first pony, I also love unicorns.

Hello, Harmatan! Welcome to the Arena!

That's wonderful that your daughter reminded you of your love for ponies. I love hearing parents say they share their collections with their children or their collections were started because of them. Enjoy the forums!

Hi and welcome to the arena!

OOooo Poly Pocket.  I loved their commercials in the 90s.

What were your other two favorite toys other than ponies?

The person who introduced me to the arena loves Masquerade too!

We're so glad you joined us!  I hope you have a great time here.

They were Barbies and LEGO. I'm still into LEGO and I've passed that down to my kids as well.

Oooo my pony friend in the UK just shared pictures with me of her medieval Lego castle she has been keeping since she was 9 and it is full of nobles and horses and she has a non-lego dragon in there and it's really sweet and fun.  I told her she must watch the Lego movie because it addresses the issues of preserving collectibles as museum pieces (like her castle) vs playing with them as well as father/son relationships especially in regards to playing with Dad's collectibles...I hope you have shared that movie with your kids.

I was into legos too but other than the basic blocks all I had were some hinges and windows...and never ever enough blocks to satisfy what I wanted to build, haha.

Welcome to the Arena!

My undergrad degree is in anthropology! I focused on bioarchaeology and forensics. What sort of archaeology are you mainly interested in?

lostpony, there's never enough LEGO to build with! The LEGO movie is one of the kids favorite.

ClawleenMeowlen I studied classical archaeology but also worked on an iron age site.

That's fantastic! Classical is what sort of sparked some of my interest, when I was a kid; we were living in Sicily, and it's hard not to foster some kind of fascination when you're quite literally surrounded by it!
