Dainty Dahlia's Hair Doesn't Re-pink..
« on: May 30, 2016, 02:39:09 PM »
So I tried re-pinking Dainty Dahlia, and after a lovely 2 HOURS I got nothing! It is so infuriating. :pout:

Her hair does not re-pink, but what's worse is that forelock does, which is now a lovely shade of contrasting deep magenta. Does anyone know how to remove RIT dye from hair?

I know bleach does not work, so does anyone have another method? I have given up on pinking the hair, but the forelock has to be changed.

Thanks in advance!

My dainty dahlia has pink hair. I didn't realize it was a fader. I wish I could show a picture. My beloved ponies are all boxed up for construction due to water heater pipe burst. As for the magenta stripe, I would suggest oxiclean. Does the rit package have any tips?

Yes! Her hair  fades and her body often turns gray. Keep her out of sunlight if you can!
I am so frustrated with the dye. I'm trying to figure out a way to make the pink in the forelock go away ..
RIT doesn't say anything but there is a product that's supposedly able to take colors out of things prior to them being dyed. I'm wondering if that would help?

There is a RIT color remover, though I don't know if it would work on something that has been dyed with RIT

That's the stuff I was thinking of, and it supposedly works on things that had dye prior to doing a RIT treatment, so I am not sure it would work..
I'll have to try! That magenta forelock looks awful.

Good luck!

My water heater pipe burst and insurance is redoing all the floors so they are all packed. No sunlight worries now.

Rinsing for a good while can lighten it. Acetone can remove it a bit. And it will just fade in time too.

Thank you for the advice!

I tried dyeing DD again today and she took the faintest color of pink, so I am a bit happier she's no longer yucky white/gray. I'll try acetone on the strip next!

Be very careful not to get it on her paint though. It'll strip that too.

Would sun-bleaching the forelock help? Just make sure the rest of her is covered completely

I'll have to try it!
For now I am putting her on my to-do list, I found a nice dark pink ribbon that matches the forelock XD For now I'll leave it at that

She's also to prone to body yellowing.  I had to sun fade mine, who was very, very pink, and her eyes still faded through acrylic paint, and her hair too, but, at least, she didn't look like a chain smoker anymore.  She's a hard pony to find mint.  A friend of mine has a perfect one with a still aqua/blue body, with perfect purple eyes and bright pink hair and forelock.  She is an amazing pony to behold for sure!

I've used the Rit dye remover on hair I've dyed with Rit dye, and I has lightened up te colour. Good luck!
