#norppalive - WWF Ringed Seal live cam

I wanted to share this with you because I'm totally hooked!

WWF installed a camera to show live stream of an endangered seal species, Saimaa Ringed Seal. I grew up by Lake Saimaa and I consider protecting this species, like any endangered species, very important. I've never seen a "norppa" in real life - few people do because they spend most of their time underwater - and I don't think there are any near our summer cottage anyway. The lake is very large, spanning most of the South-Eastern Finland, with many small and scattered water areas. I'm super excited to finally see one, albeit through the camera's eye!

There are two seals that frequent the site, one female and one male. The male (recently named Pullervo by public vote - 'pullea' is Finnish for 'chubby' ) in particular likes to hang out on the rock. He's there even now, I hope you manage to catch a glimpse! I find it very soothing to watch, seals or no seals.

OOOOOH he is sooooo cute!  He is scritching and scratching at himself on the rock... awwwww...and a little birdie come to find some food..

This is amazing! He's scratching his blubber and taking a nice nap on the rock. You're right, it is relaxing to watch. I wish I could vacation there, thanks for sharing ^^

Oooooo! I love to watch stuff like this! endangered animals are really important to me and to watch them on a live stream is amazing because we can see them without disturbing them. This is so neat, seals are totally so stinkin' CUTE!
