Pokemon Gen 7 Sun/Moon talk--starters and what team are you on?

I caved and bought UM. A certain aspect of the new story made me decide to get it.

I gave my mom my old copy of Moon and started her a name game after I transferred my pokemon over via the bank. I hope she gets into it. She loved Animal Crossing and the Wii Harvest Moon Animal Parade. I tried Story of Seasons and she didn't get into this. I want another game we can play together, but she gets frustrated easily. I have a feeling this one won't fly with her either.

I enjoyed Moon a bit, but it felt different than other Pokemon games. Maybe it's because it is vastly different than what I grew up with.

I cannot see what they came up with in the Switch. I hope it's compatible with the Pokemon bank.

  Gamefreak just announced that Pokemon Crystal is coming out in January. Woo hoo! Glad I didn't get Gold.

That was my favorite of that gen!  I'm definitely buying it!  I hope it comes with a background code, too.  That would be pretty!

If I can keep my spending this week under budget I'll reward myself with Crystal or Silver, I can't decide!
I won't be getting Ultra anything, because the event Pokemon will still be able to be redeemed on SM. I'll just sit and wait for the switch version...

At Rusted and Pokey: Who are you choosing for your starter? I'm going with Cyndaquil.

Probably going with Cyndaquil, but I do really like Chicorita's evolutions.
I figure I'll probably want a firetype early on, as you tend to be able to get grass types before fires anyway.

I remember getting Growlithe early. If you can catch em before they run away. Little boogers. That was one of my more frustrating game moments.

Chikorita was my first gen 2 starter. Sorry. I personally didn't like it.

The final evolution does look goofy to me because it looks like it's just a bald dinosaur.  I wish she had some sort of crest.

It's not the look of the Chikorita line that bugs me. It's the fact that its not a ah...very good pokemon. It made my first playthrough of Johto miserable. By the time I beat the ice gym I'd had enough and reset for Cyndaquil.

Oo, yeah that'll make me stick to Cynda then for my decision. I usually choose based on aesthetics for my first starter, but it's easy to obtain any of the gen 2 starters in sun so I'll pick based off of ease of game for this round. Since all I really want is Suicune.

I think when I first played Crystal back when it was first released (Crystal was my first game--my brothers let me play their red/blue games but Crystal was the first one I owned) I went with Totodile.  I think I may do that just because I can.  And I have Silver and Gold on my 3DS (which is why I'm putting Crystal on my 2DS) already so I will probably just start each game with one of each of the starters.  The hard part for me is deciding what to name them.

To be fair, its not entirely Chikorita's fault. There are very few places for a grass type to level up decently and far too many gyms are stacked against it, especially early on. Flying Gym, Bug Gym, Fighting Gym, Ice Gym are a few examples.

My daughter sailed through it with Totodile. She says Feraligator is an absolute beast!

I choose starters based on aesthetics too.

Definitely go with Crystal! It's got some nice extras to it.

I read that they actually made Celebi available as part of the after story, but I don't know how true that is because I read that before it was released and haven't had it confirmed from anyone who actually beat it.
