Twilight and Firefly Color Comparison?
« on: April 30, 2016, 09:34:47 PM »
Can anyone give me an idea of the color differences between the bodies of Twilight and Firefly? I only have a Firefly, so I don't have a Twilight to directly compare the two. It would be great if someone could show me a picture of the two side by side, if possible! I'm thinking they are barely different or that Twilight is a little lighter and peachier while Firefly is a bit more higher saturation and darker pink?

I have them both (they were even both from the same auction) and what you said seems about right, they are very similar with Twilight having a slightly lighter shade of pink and Firefly being a slightly darker and warmer shade, I'll try to take a photo of them later today

There is a tiny difference, but only noticable if you look closely.

We have two different shades of HK Twilight. One of them, my sister's, is more like Firefly colour, maybe a shade different (can't compare them, I';m 3 hours away and sister's pony is in storage anyway) and mine is paler (but not faded).

So I guess it depends which Twilight you're working from?

I think a lot of Fireflys tend to be discolored? All the ones I've had have been more of a darker pink, almost tinged with brownish...it's hard to describe, but she's never looked like a nice pink to me (except in people's photos, like the one above - she looks right), unlike my Twilights, who are always a gorgeous shade in my book. Am I just crazy or has anyone else noticed?

Something to note is Twilight is depicted as being the paler shade of pink in most forms of media (especially Rescue at Midnight Castle).

They are so cute together! This helps so much!

Thank you so much for your picture and detailed answers!! Everyone has been super helpful! It is interesting that there are paler versions of Twilight to consider. I will have to investigate the media representations as well and think on how to portray the two.

I don't have a screencap of it, but at the end of Rescue at Midnight Castle is a full cast shot with Twilight and Firefly next to each other.  Twilight is noticeably paler than Firefly (who's the darkest of the three pink ponies).

I think you might be on to something here. If Firefly is prone to yellowing like say Starshine is then she might go a more yellowy pink. I think mine is a nice pink but I can't check right now. This is making me miss my ponies, I need to get them out of storage!

I can't check mine either, still in London and they're at home, but if it's relevant when I get home I can take a picture of Firefly and Twilight from my collection. I thought the same about the pale colour and the animation. Both are from the US, so it's not like it's anything but a batch variation of some kind - but I like her better pale. I wasn't going to keep a Twilight myself until I got her, but she's really pretty in that shade.

Here's a screencap of the scene Al-1701 mentioned and pics of my Firefly and Twilight with and without the flash. My Twilight might be faded.

Oh that scene is perfect for comparison of the animation!

Hmm... So if I were to do a G1 to G4 custom should I go for the unnoticeable difference in the toy or the clear difference in the show. Think, think, think...
