UK to Europe Postal Delays?

I was wondering if anyone had sent parcels from UK to Europe recently and how long it took to arrive?

I sent some ponies to Sweden on the 30th September and they haven't arrived yet. I know there are some delays at the Eurotunnel but should it be this long?

I guess if it still doesn't arrive I will try to file a lost post claim with Royal Mail...has any one ever had success in that department? I know they don't consider such claims for a month after posting, but are they usually good at responding to claims?

I've ordered something from the UK a few weeks back and got it within 5 days. Mine went via airmail though. It might be stuck at customs somewhere.

I've been experiencing loads of problems with parcels being send from Finland to Germany this year: For some reason, although airmail had been paid for in each case, all the parcels were send via surface mail and took several weeks (!) to arrive.

As for parcels being send from the UK to Germany (I had two parcels arriving for my birthday earlier this month), they took between four days and one week to arrive (via airmail).

All of my parcels have been stupidly delayed recently. Usually it takes 4-5 days and now we are talking weeks. My dad's birthday present took over three weeks to arrive (UK to Denmark). All of these parcels were sent airmail - I've heard it from other people too

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I have not usually had problems sending to Europe but it does seem that others are having the same issues as me currently. I wonder what is going on?!

I'm waiting the correct time before proceeding with a lost item claim... but I'm praying it will arrive in the next few days.

   I know the wait is stressful but arrival times in Europe are all over the place ATM so I wouldn't worry yet. I think the refugee crisis has slowed a lot of things down as well as the usual international mail times being hit n miss , sometimes fast sometimes slow.  You still have quite a bit of time yet for the parcel to arrive safely

Yes I've successfully had to do this - only a couple of times during all the years I've been selling - but I never had any issues  and they sort it out pretty quickly- as long as you have the PO receipt/proof of posting
