Smart Doll??!!!! Whaaaa?!!

  But, is the current doll that you can find an order form for and that costs 60,000 JPY with or without the robotics and "smart phone" capabilities??!! The site is sooo unclear. At that price I highly doubt it includes the fancy stuff, but a girl can always dream.

  And, if not, where can we get the fancy version and how much does it cost? Or if it's not out yet, how long do we have to wait before it's available to the public?

  Wishing now more than ever that I could read Japanese.

It's without the robotics. From what I'm reading, it might only be the 120cm version that will have robotics. The smaller one might be too small? I'm just going off a discussion I read. There is a section for SmartDolls on the dollfiedreams forum. I'd link it, but I'm not quite sure the site is appropriate (doll nudity?).

However, the frame of the normal SmartDoll Mirai is really intriguing to me. I'd get one, but I don't want a SD size doll... I hope one day he might make a MSD sized doll.

Not gonna lie...this doll makes me giggly and giddy.  I want one...I don't care what she does or does not do, lol.  I want a Siri with a body.  Can I ride in the carpool lane if I have her?  She's bigger than my kid...and WILL BE bigger than him for a while!  I want to buckle her in the passenger seat, and get her to direct me to the nearest Starbucks.

  There is video of the SD doll with mechanics bobbing her head side to side (so CUTE!) and I know that I read that there are two versions of her; one with robotics and is compatible with a smart-phone and one that is what the are terming a "manual version". I believe the doll that is for sale on Japan Culture is the "Manual Version." There is a lot of stuff out there on her. But I find no information on the "other" one! Maybe it is still in beta and it's not available yet?
  If you type in "SDMV doll" ( or "Smart Doll Manual Version") into a Google search it comes up with lots of info on the non-robotics doll. I'm still researching to see if I can glean a better idea on the fancypants doll..

If she's really only about $500, that's about what I'd pay for a doll her size anyway. I am hoping that that's the size with the electronics. I could swing that after lots of saving.

So what I've gathered is...

The dolls that are for sale, the 60cm ones, are just dolls. They don't have any special features, other than being really nicely designed. There's no 'smart phone' version of them currently.

The creator played around with some robotics on the standard sized doll, but seemingly just as experiments and prototypes for now. The giant sized version looks like it was made for fun, and the robot part of that story was done as a joke. I don't see anything on the official site that suggests that a robotic doll is slated for release any time soon.

eta: I found one interview that said he hoped to have the 'smart phone' version available by the end of 2014, but everything currently seems to indicate that idea has been tabled.
