Why? Help!? :)
« on: March 29, 2015, 07:33:42 AM »
I was just wondering why some ponies are a bit different from each other, but still the same pony.  :P

Take for example Lickety Split. Why is her symbols like this? One darker pink and the other one light pink?

And then we have Mommy Apple Delight. Why has one a hard plastic body and the other one not so hard plastic body?

Is one of the ponies more 'right' than the other? These ponies are marked the same under their feet.

Hope someone have the answers for me..

Lickety-Splits symbols might either be faded, or a variation. Some ponies leak plasticizer which turn their bodies hard. I dunno why some ponies are squishy like that. No pony is more "right" then others.

Okay. :) Thank you for answering.  ^.^

Which ponies do people prefer the most squishy one or the hard one? :P

It doesn't really matter to me. I would only care if I was going to customize or rehair a pony.  From my limited experience, a pony that is too squishy is harder to do.

Ever look at different pics of Lemon Drop? Not one is alike. Most ponies have batch variations and then throw in environmental conditions and really, no two are alike. I personally like ponies that are hard as a rock (better for customs...).

Well your Lickety Split is actually 2 different releases :) The hotter pink cones were released in a different set in Europe.

However in general its good old fashioned and boring manufacturing. These were relatively inexpensively made, mass market produced items - manufactured at different times, in different factories and different production runs. Add that to the fact these ponies will have been stored in varied conditions for 30 years and it becomes more normal than abnormal to have 2 of the "same" ponies with some variety in finish. :)

Aren't the hotter pink ones the nss release? Like the red flower posey? Was kind was wondering why my pink haired lickety had paler cutie marks than her white haired sister!
Don't know why I didn't think of that sooner

Yes... Posey.. it's the same with her. But I thought the dark pink flowers was UK/EU? Or am I wrong... That's the reason I'm wondering if it's like this with other ponies.. :P

Some of the US so soft ponies were released without flocking in the UK/Europe. I think you can tell them such as Posey since the flocked versions have darker symbols for them to show up under the flocking
