I thought the same thing when I got my ponies!  I have a friend who got Octavia from a Chinese seller and commented on how soft the hair is, so it must be something that they're doing!

Since I didn't make any money off of doing this, I figured I could justify sending all the international packages as GIFTS, so hopefully that helps :)
