When I inherited my Sweet Stuff and Sky Rocket from a cousin, they both came to me with cropped manes and tails I think the combination of the pose and haircuts made me think of them as boys. 

I also had quite a few babies that I decided were boys, like Splash and Stargaze. I always though it was a bit sad that the boys were so vastly outnumbered (heck, I still feel sad about that!).

:O Do you still have them with their cropped manes and tails?! I'd love to see them!

I definitely still have Sweet Stuff somewhere... not sure about Sky Rocket. Some of my ponies haven't seen the light of day in a while.

When I started collecting, I had Sunbeam, and he was always a boy to me... I still think of him as a boy, even though i don't have him anymore.  I forget who I had him paired up with though...

they all were always boys to me and still are, although Wes has a twin sister named Lofty..hehe,,,

When I was smaller, me and one of my best friend's played ponies all the time, originally Paradise, Wes(lofty), Northstar and Milkyway were my friend's ponies.....I remember the day when I came over to play with all of my ponies and realized she had cut all their hair, me being the protective pony mother was like NNNOOOOOO!!! She was like "now I have boys!!"......but soon I could only see them as boys, and when me and my friend were around 14 she surprised me and gave them all to me!!!...I was so excited because Paradise was one that i always played with at her house so he was finally mine .......Kameer(Glory) was a glory without symbols I had found....so I gave him a cute hair cut and viola hes a boy, and then of course theres my very special rescued Renegade(yes I know hes got bunny symbols, but hes the studliest one of them all).... .......I got him from someone I knew in high school......lol...yes high school...I think I might have been in like 9th grade, or 8th...don't remember...but of course I grilled everyone I knew if they had ponies and if they did I would buy them......lol.....so I remember it like it was yesterday, I got my Renegade during my lunch period infront of the vending machines....lol.....he was covered in the dirtiest fuzz ever....and had a severe hair cut....I loved him right away....I seen him as a lost pony that needed to be cleaned up into the stud he is today I put his hair in a pony tail, evened out his tail, and he was my first rebel to have his ear pierced, plus he was my sad first attempt at deflocking way back when....lol....well thats the short story.....

Majesty was a boy, the king.
Applejack was a boy, and baby Applejack was the son. Can't remember who was the mum, have a feeling he had a sister too.
Gusty, Starshine and Skydancer, Magic Hat, Sunlight, Moonstone, all boys.
They were pretty much all married with kids.
Think there was more but need to reassemble the families to remember properly. 
I love this topic! could reminisce all day.

Baby Nectar and Baby Dangles were boys to me because they were white and blue
Everybody else was girls and women. I didn't even think it was important to have "daddy" characters because real horses don't give a crap about nuclear families
I only had one canon boy. Brother Apple Delight.
