I also cut my Trixie's hair to make it show accurate.... then I realized I like it better long so I could brush her! I used glue to keep her fresh haircut in place, now I have to cut it all off an re-hair. o-O that was when I first started collecting though.

Using Acetone to clean off dirt on my ponies. I did this when I first seriously started collecting a few years ago. My thought process was "Dang This Acetone REALLY gets off more dirt than a warm scrub does!" I knew it stripped paint off beforehand. I tried to be careful and avoid it but I've smeared some paint on a couple dolls when my hand accidentally slipped. A G2 Light Heart Happy Meal figure is missing paint on her mane and a G3 Rainbow Dash with a pearl necklace printed on her is missing part of her symbol. I've since learned it's just way too risky to try and use it on the whole pony. Just save it for tougher stains. Oh, and pulling on my doll's hair way too hard to remove tangles as a kid. Who knows how much hair I pulled out doing that. If I could go back in time, I would kick myself for treating their manes and tails that way.

I sort of destroyed My Pretty Pony when I wanted to open her up and fix her mechanism......  Also I tried acne cream under Tickle's hoof, and the white spread out a lot further than I ever thought it would :(

I trimmed the hair of a G4 Twilight w/ bangs way back when she was first released in attempt to give her a 'show accurate' haircut.  >_< I also regret donating my childhood Minty.

letting my step-father make me give up my ponies as a teen, my mother let me keep my favorites but when I 'moved out' they weren't sent to me with my Breyers I had a Quarterback SS Lickity Split Gingerbread and others  can't recall. Recently I washed some Customs as they looked like SS ponies with the dust covering them, 2 of them some hair fell out when I combed them. *hair was dry.  they were my first rehairs I don't think I used enough glue to hold the hair in. I'll see what my other ponies fair as I had to wash them all.

in August I wanted to get a spot off of Cute Curtsey's cuie mark, so I thought that a dab of nail polish remover would be fine. I took off half her cutie mark, and then to add insult to injury, i got paint on her butt when I was trying to repaint it. I'm still devestated about it, she's my baby, and I ruined her. (She still sits front and center of my collection, after I fixed her poor frizzy and disusting hair. ) But even so, she's happier with me than with my sister, I like to think.

I guess other than pierce their ears when I was little. I didnt pierce all of them just some. I gave them all away except for two. I still kick myself to this very day.

I gave a few of my ponies hair cuts around the time when I started collecting, before I knew how to properly style their manes to make them show accurate. I still have them, but they look terrible!

The only thing I can think of is that I pared down my collection a bit ruthlessly about 5 years ago.  Now I'm feeling a growing urge to re-collect some of the ones I sold...   :lookround:

Since finding my collection again I've done what most of you have done and given some a good clean. Whilst cleaning my tex I thought I'd use some nail polish remover to clean off the smear of paint just next to his cactus and of course when I cleaned it I removed half of one of his cacti  I was really annoyed with myself .

:( I tried to sunfade Glory and her blue streak faded. She doesn't look considerably whiter, either. I didn't realize that that blue color would fade, and now I have to rehair or dye it. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

My first experience with customizing was restoring my childhood Sky Skimmer.  I didn't know how to soften her plug... so I cut it off and glued her head back on.  I also had no clue how to remove the marks so I covered her in really thick paint.  She looked really hideous, looking back...
I've stripped her of everything I gave her and want to try something different with her, but unfortunately, it's starting to look like a better idea just to throw her out.
