Best way to tame pony hair?
« on: April 15, 2014, 01:48:32 PM »
I just recieved the Rainbow Dash as Shadowbolt toy in the mail, but her hair is completely wild. When I usually style G4 pony hair, I wet it and wrap it round the pony's front leg so it dries in a curl, but this hair is too short and thick to do that! So how do you suggest I go about taming it? :P

I do really tiny rubber bands for short manes.

Hairspray works for me when I want to control a pony's mane. The downside, however, is that the ends split and get a bit rough.

Hot water and conditioner! If you want it to dry wrapped around the neck, rubber-band it in place there and let it dry beneath a lamp.

Even though its thick and short, as others have suggested a hot water set will work with time. You may need to repeat the process a few times however. Try not to use long term setting chemicals on the hair - i.e. nothing which will not wash out - as hair spray and the like can cause nylon hair to break up over time.

I would wash it with hot water, shampoo & conditioner, then I'd wrap it around her neck and secure it with some paper towel and sewing pins, leave it overnight and then in the morning it should be perfectly dry and have a slight curve, thats what I do with short-hair G1's or ponies with haircuts =w=!
