I don't have a shopko close by so I called one I can get to a little farther away. This is the SKU they gave me, 17749516, when I have them the UPC. They have 54 so I feel pretty good about my chances. I'll probably go and see what I can score.

I found these a few months ago at our local Shopko too.  I took a picture and meant to post but forgot.  They are $6 at ours, a penny more expensive than the regular carded ones.  So far the mane 6 are the only ones here.  I thought they were odd when I saw them at first.

this, Hasbro.  this.  give us 20 new characters this way! Youll save money on card art & text ! packaging ,  just give us variety!

Oh wow! I was talking to somebody on Instagram yesterday who had got a Cheerilee at Target in a plastic bag so I am guessing its one of these, so check out Target too I hope these come to the UK, although I prefer the gradient eyes, these are much more affordable and means I could finally own Cheerilee and Lily Blossom!

Okay, so who all is available in this series? What I've gathered so far is that it's the main 6, Lyra, Cheerilee, and Lily Blossom. Are there any others? I'd like to tentatively plan how much money to potentially set aside if I run into these for the $3 price tomorrow or Tuesday.

I think there were eight: the three non mane 6, and 5 of the mane excluding twilight.  that's a big assortment isn't it!

Well Hasbro did this in G1 as well - selling some ponies in bags with cardboard tops so its certainly not something they have not tried before but we havent seen it for a while. Interesting move.

A cheaper product [probably down as much to packaging as anything else] and a current made product as well. Also...no Twilight - who they would not have available in her alicorn/current show form; assuming they are only offering the initial few waves as this way right now.
