80s Fan, G1 Loyalist, and G4 Enthusiast

Hello, my name is Lissar and I've been an MLP fan since 1985. My favorite G1 ponies would have to be Gusty, Fizzy, and Firefly. I did not catch onto the G2 and G3 franchise so much, probably because they were not produced in a series format -- I like characters who I can follow and get to know. Still, I've tried to keep up to date with the changes of MLP over the last few decades, and while I was skeptical of the G4 reboot at first, I was pleasantly surprised in the end. The G4 Friendship Is Magic reboot is relevant to kids today, but stays true to the originally franchise from the 80s and that's important to a G1 loyalist like myself! So I've really enjoyed all the episodes of the G4 MLP FiM series, and my favorite main character would have to be Applejack, and a favorite side character would be Photo Finish due to her super-catchy one-liner "I go", lol. Well, that's a fairly comprehensive history of my MLP background. Thanks for having me on the forum!

Welcome to the Arena. I've also been a MLP fan since the 80s but I find that I still have trouble with the whole FiM thing. Guess I'm too much of a purest. Everyone here is really nice so I hope you enjoy being here as much as I have.

I was never much of a fan of the G2 line either, but seeing all of the pretty G2 collections that some of our members here have has made me change my mind.  I bet it will happen to you too eventually

It's also great to see so many MLP enthusiasts in one place. It's not the type of topic I would typically bring up at work. It's nice to meet you all, and it's fun that we all have different generational tastes.

I'm definitely a G1 purest, Gusty for President! I definitely understand the purest mentality and I find myself questioning Hasbro's motives on some of their toy lines in the past. But I had so much wanted to see the whole MLP series rebooted successfully, so I caved into the G4 series! After not being too thrilled about the G3 home videos that came out, I gave the G4 series a chance and my pony loyalist taste buds were satisfied. Definitely not a recreation of the old series, but even though it was new and "hip" I'd say the producer did a good job. I looked up Lauren Faust (sp?) who was the true inspiration for rebooting the show, and I believe her biography stated she was a huge MLP fan growing up. So kudos to her vision and making it come true today. I will back up MLP fans anywhere if I can, lol.

And I guess I do have a few G2 ponies lying around somewhere, heh... (I couldn't resist either!)

Lol, I bet you end up talking about ponies at work eventually.  I used to get all of my pony parcels sent to my work (so they weren't left in my mailbox all day unattended) and my co-workers took a keen interest in my new hobbie.  They were almost as excited as I was whenever a new package arrived

@kiwimlp: That's awesome and hilarious that your coworkers got into the craze a little with you. At present I am working on my husband a little, and even he has come to appreciate my hobby and has watched a few of the G4 FiM series with me too. The craze is spreading... lol.

ha ha ha excuse me I think you just copy pasted my intro from when I first joined! ha ha I am in the same situation as you, loved g1, they were my favorite, then watched g4 and fell in love all over again. AJ is my favorite as well!
