G1 Pillowcase Question
« on: December 08, 2013, 07:00:45 AM »
Firstly I hope this is the right place to post this question

I recently bought myself a G1 Pillowcase. For those out there who have one of the pillowcases from the 80's,
do you still sleep on it or do you have it in storage. I would like to use it on my bed, should I spray it with Scotch Guard to help protect it? Seems silly I know, but just want to keep it in the best condition that I can  :)  Thanks for any help/suggestions that you can give

I have quite a few various 80's pillowcases that I sleep on. Honestly if you're afraid of ruining it I wouldn't sleep on it. The fabric is usually really thin and the seams start to rip out or white pillows turn yellow (have really hard water here)... plus you're spraying it with a chemical then letting that rub all up against your skin... eeep

I agree with mlp4me, if you dont want to ruin it with time then dont use it unfortunately. Its more likely to be washing and drying which actually cause it to fade or wear thin and using it will of course mean it needs washed and dried repeatedly. Eventually the print will begin to fade.

I have a couple few G1 pillow cases; 2 of them I keep in storage and the third one [which is the same as one I have from childhood] I keep on a pillow on the daybed in the pony room. Its not really used other than for display but it is still washed reasonably often and I know with time it will fade out. But I am fine with that and as long as you dont mind that then you should go ahead and use it if you wish!
