Deflocking advice?

This is a lot of great advice...I didn't know how to do any of this!

Sometimes you might be able to get a pony mostly deflocked with hot water and scrubbing, but it really depends. Some of them the flocking pretty much falls off - others have taken me hours and hours to do, even with acetone. But give them ahot water soak and scrape first, you might save yourself some work and chemicals.

I don't use acetone at all to deflock.  I boil the pony on the stove for 10-15 minutes then while the pony is still hot I *carefully rub her with exfoliating gloves. Too remove the glue residue I use acetone free nail polish remover liberally. ..less stinky and doesn't remove the paint on the symbols.  I deflocked my bangles in less than one day using this method!  If she needs longer or starts to harden again while scrubbing  I pop her in the pot again....
I was recommended to use decorating sugar soap as well. It's cheap but I've not tried that yet!

Where do you get exfoliating gloves?  Near the body wash and soap in a store?  I MUST try this!

I love to deflock = Jasco and acetone = boiling in water is also good.  Yep, hate hate hate to do wings (toothpicks come in handy).  For the life of me, I don't know why Hasbro took a perfectly bright and beautiful pony and stuck white fuzz all over.  Now if the flocking had been colored, no problem = I get the whole "oooh she's soft" aspect.  But why cover up the symbols?  Why hide the body color?  ugh

Wings aren't so bad if you use a brush to apply the acetone. I use those el cheapo brushes with the stiff bristles for glue and stuff, just a crimped metal tube for a handle, usually come in big bags cuz they're meant to be used once.

Apply the acetone to a patch and let it soak in for a minute, then the flocking practically slides off.

yes there used to rub off dry skin.  You need to be careful around symbols. However the rough surface helped to rub off the flocking.  I wasnt too careful but I'd hate to think someone damaged their pony on my advice Plus ive no nails to scratch with lol. You should  find them with the shower and body wash stuff in the supermarket. Or if in the uk boots or superdrug! Mine came from a £1 store! I used a £1 nail polish remover so only cost me £2 to deflock bangles.  And I've still got half of the nail polish remover left!!!

I also posted what I learned doing my own de-flocks.

I'm also taking out the part of the tutorial that says let the Jasco sit for 5-15 minutes.  Maycrestmom doesn't recommend you let it sit and she's a super de-flocker!

I tried ex-foliating gloves once in the past but found that they scoured the surface of the plastic and scratched the symbols. I think it may have been because the plastic was hot as it does not cause the same issue on a cold pony but unfortunately in order to shift the glue the pony needs to be super hot. Thats good to know it is possible to use them without those issues.

In the past I used nail varnish with acetone, without acetone, rubbing alcohol, paint stripper and pure acetone. If I am honest I have found that they all work to the same degree and sometimes one will clear one pony perfectly but will not on another. At the moment I prefer a soak in sugar soap and boiling water but sometimes I still need acetone or nail polish or paint stripper to finish things up.

There are some great tips here, I'm in the middle of deflocking two pegasi using boiling water & I've been dreading reaching the wings. >.<
