Princess Twilight Sparkle "Adult Collectible"???
« on: July 16, 2013, 09:53:15 AM »
Has anyone heard about adult collectible ponies coming out? I had not heard of them yet, so forgive me if I'm behind with the times!  I stumbled across an "Adult Collectible Twilight Sparkle" which is apparently decorated with Swarovski Crystals and glitter. I saw her on hasbro toy shop just now, and ACK! The price? $49.99 pre-order. It doesn't mention anything about how big she is, but you can see by the pics that she has brushable hair. I would be horrified if she is only the brushable size for that price. Does anyone know if there are other characters that are slated to come out as "adult collectibles" like her? Just curious. Unfortunately, the price tag on this one will discourage me from collecting her, or any others like her (I could get 10 brushables, or a TRU favorites collection for that much!) That's just my 2 cents and my attempt to share what I just thought was downright odd.

I've seen that Twilight before but no label attached. WOW!! I think she is Fashion Style. She is the same as DJ-Pon3 from MLP Fair (same price, same packaging, same getup)

They aren't my thing-too much lol.

Wow... thank you for pointing that out.   I'd never heard of them either.   I think I have to pass too but it's really interesting that they made that.

Sigh. Hasbro, why don't you just make what collectors WANT? Big Mac. Luna in her actual colors. Art ponies. Meh.

Unless that is real gold or jewels, nothing looks particularly 'adult collectable' about her. Her wings don't even match :/

Oh wow, they are available now!  I've seen these on Taobao on ebay-  they are surprisingly expensive even on Taobao ($50 or close to it).  I guess the Swarovski crystals explains why-

Why would they think that the adult collectors want Swarovski crystals ?

She really is such a crazily tacky design-  I ended up getting her because she is so ridiculously tacky that it makes me lol.  But I was really hoping the big tacky gems on her wings would light up-  guess not.  How disappointing.

The ebay auctions for her claim she is 6" -  so I guess she is fashion style.  I do like the shape of her wings if only she hadn't been so darned bedazzled.

True.  This isn't exactly what I have in mind when I think "adult collectors".   I think of things like, tasteful gold inlay, exquisite detail, quality materials, limited edition and so on.  Not... a fashion style pony with added glitter. It's a bit strange.  I do think it's cute and appealing.  But it's just not my idea of adult collectable.

I am very curious as to where she will be made available (other than Hasbrotoyshop) - don't things usually get to Hasbrotoyshop last?  Makes me wonder if the stores declined to pick her up.

I'd love to get her at 50% off...

This.

I don't know why they think that we want a bedazzled version of a pony already released 100 times.  If this pony was made of colored glass, then I might be willing to spend that much on her.  If it was a limited edition pony that has never been released, again I might be willing.  But not like this.

Why did DJ end up with molded hair yet this one has real hair?   They look like they belong together with the same packaging and all.  Do I want Twi?  Not really.  The glued on glitter is tacky.  I might have wanted her if she was a truly limited edition, but she really isn't all that special.

For an "adult collectible" she sure looks like a regular boring tacky plaything.

Why would they think that the adult collectors want Swarovski crystals ?

I want Swarovski crystals!!!  But not like this.  I want a crystal pony figure.  Not a plastic pony encrusted with crystals.  They look cheap and ugly.  I'd love little cut crystal ponies like Swarovski makes of other things.
