Did I pay too much?
« on: June 14, 2013, 04:05:10 AM »
I recently bought a pony that I was told was just grubby and needed a rehair. On arrival I notice a cancer spot and a section of missing symbol on the side that wasnt photographed. The cancer is the problem, it means she is essentially worthless as I don't dare display her with other ponies. I paid $15 for a pony thats $40 currently in minty condition. :(

Just discovered a pimple as well. I was so excited to get her :(

Have you contacted your seller yet?

It could be if she described it as grubby and it was she did not notice the cancer spot? But if you have not contacted them, I would go that route first. She maybe willing to work something out or have you return the pony.

The fact that you didn't notice this until you were cleaning the pony could possibly mean that it was not noticed by the seller either.  Cancer is not contagious to your other ponies so there is no reason to isolate the pony.  Mold is though.  I am sorry you feel you might have paid too much.  I don't know what pony you bought so its hard to say if you paid too much.  I have a couple of ponies with cancer and I wouldn't dream of calling them worthless, but you are right in that I wouldn't want to pay a lot for one with it.

Maybe they might be willing to give you some of your money back, but they may just require a full return for a refund.

Tula is right, cancer is not contagious, although there is always a dispute between what is cancer and what is mould. If you want to be sure your pony is sterile you can find some threads around on what can do the trick (there were many tips) but you shouldn't worry about displaying her with other ponies.

The centre of the brown mark actually came out when I was cleaning, its left a small crater. I think I can probably remove the remaining manky bit and fill it in and paint. Least its on the nds. The symbol loss is on the ds. Argh. Will see what the seller says.

The seller (an arena member) read the message but didn't reply. :(

Yuitsu do you want to return the pony? or are you seeking a different solution?

And may I ask what pony it is?

It's Nightglider.

I'd just like some contact from her as to whether she knew this cancer/mold was there (it is on her photo, but I didn't realise it was permanent) and possibly not fixable, about the pony pimple I found and about the paint loss on the DS that is really obvious. (which there wasn't a photo of. She asked if I wanted her to clear the rust out, and I said no, I'd do it, as she needs a full reroot as well.)

Just frustrated I guess because I was so excited to get her, thinking she just needed a good scrub and a reroot.

Totally understandable

Perhaps you could PM her again with Urgent Response Required. Just be firm with your concerns and see if she is willing to work out a solution.
